Commercial Description:
Cask & Bottled;
A historically accurate beer based on the recipe devised on the 8th of February 2007. Recreated using the finest coloured malts which provide the complex sweet malt character which initially arouses the senses. Like a fine cheese cake the biscuit base has a smooth and creamy layer that both satisfies and entices. Culminating with a delicate fruit topping of blackcurrant and tinges of citrus to refresh the participant, complimented fully by the crisp dry bitter finish.

Pours a dirty yellow with a small off white head. Aroma is malty with a little spicy hop. Flavor is bitter hops that mellow into a decent bit of malt with the bitterness lingering on the tongue.

Murky dark orange pour. At first I get some grapefruit hops but as it warms the malt takes over and gives you a caramel sweetness. There is a toffee like finish with a thick sweet full mouth feel. Aroma is faint fruit with some prune and plum.

My bottle (12oz) shared with HogTownHarry & garthicus -- courtesy of Presario. Pours a clear golden-amber with an average size diminishing off-white head. Nice aroma of fruit, light hops and caramel malt. Flavour’s hoppier then expected, backed by caramel malt and has a long bitter finish. Medium bodied. Ambers tend to be dull and crappy, kudos to BrewDog for brewing an interesting and tasty one -- me likey!

(Rating #2173)

330 ml bottle from Bieropholie, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass. JA23/09.

App.: Clear amber with a loose, rocky light tan froth. Aroma: Strong earthy caramel, slightly funky, some burnt sugar, other assorted malt aromas. Palate: Medium body, fairly sparse and soft carbonation. Flav.: Caramel that is much less earthy, more fruity, still very malty with a touch of peppery, resinous hops; off-dry with some bitterness.

Straight forward, drinkable.

660 ml, bb 08/08/09. Hazy orange-copper with a small ring of bubbles. Aroma is toast, earthy tea leaf and caramel with some muted orange and oak. Flavor is orange-caramel and biscuit, toned down with some salty oak and earthy leaf. Near-medium body is hardly carbonated, watery-thin, and well-dried by the salt and wood flavors.
