Commercial Description:
Cask & Bottled;
A historically accurate beer based on the recipe devised on the 8th of February 2007. Recreated using the finest coloured malts which provide the complex sweet malt character which initially arouses the senses. Like a fine cheese cake the biscuit base has a smooth and creamy layer that both satisfies and entices. Culminating with a delicate fruit topping of blackcurrant and tinges of citrus to refresh the participant, complimented fully by the crisp dry bitter finish.

Bottle at The Rake, "What company Christmas party?" session, 4th Dec 08. Mid amber and suprisingly still. Soft malt aroma. Fudgy malt and then a spreading hop bitterness to balance it. Good finish that shows off the varied hop flavours. Enjoyable stuff.

Batch 001 shared with maniac. Hazy dull copper with thin ring of off-white head. Aroma is a bready apple with a light citrus note and sweet belgian yeastiness. Flavor is toasty malt with a slight hop bitteness. Chewy body that leaves an oily coating in the mouth. Considering the price, certainly not worth it.

Bottle. Pour is an orangish amber with a rather large and fluffy head (off-white). Aromas are floral and fruity hops with a bit of a bready malt presence. Flavor is an interesting mix of the above with just a touch of pine/resin that makes itself known in the finish. At times it seems a bit watery, but at other times it comes off as full enough for me. I think this is due to the somewhat thin mouthfeel and the underwhelming malt presence, but all in all, it’s pretty good. No where near good enough to justify the price here in the states, though. (I paid $7 for a bomber, but that was on sale... down from $11 or something like that).

Bottle. Pours a light brown with a thick white head. Aroma of sweet malt and flowery hops. Flavor is odd: lots of caramel, also roasted malt, wood, fruit (melon?). Quite sweet, but just an odd combination of flavors. Very different from other ambers that I’ve had. Just ok for me.

660ml bottle thanks to larrylsb. Light amber color with a lasting white head. Light grainy malt aroma with some nutty and caramel accents. Mostly biscuit and toffee malt flavors with a bit of caramel and light earthy hops in the finish. Medium-light body with medium carbonation. A pretty drinkable but boring amber that is probably a bit worse for wear after traveling all the way from Scotland and sitting on a shelf over here, but if they want to send this one over, then that’s what you get...
