Commercial Description:
Cask & Bottled;
A historically accurate beer based on the recipe devised on the 8th of February 2007. Recreated using the finest coloured malts which provide the complex sweet malt character which initially arouses the senses. Like a fine cheese cake the biscuit base has a smooth and creamy layer that both satisfies and entices. Culminating with a delicate fruit topping of blackcurrant and tinges of citrus to refresh the participant, complimented fully by the crisp dry bitter finish.

Bottle courtesy of larrylsb. Pours a hazy gold color with a healthy white froth. Aroma is very grainy with a hint of caramel sweetness and an isovaleric acid note of old hops. Flavor is cookieish malts with a bit of earthiness and toffee. Decent clean finish. Clearly English and tastes more like an ESB than an amber. Body is thinnish. Insubstantial in just about every category.

Rats. A disappointment. Poured with soap bubble head and no lace. Color is a clear light to medium amber. Aroma is a malty and flowery hop. Pleasant. Flavor is a nicely mildly hopped amber beer as I’d expect. It was flat though. Going to try cooking with it. Hard to get around the flatness and be neutral with the other qualities as they’re so connected. Still, an accurate review as best I can. Chau babe.

Bottle from TBS, thanks matt... Redish amber color, duh... No head? Malty aroma. Taste is the same, just a plain malty beer, some touch of earthy notes. Ambers are BORING.... I wanted to like this beer but in the long run its just like every other amber in the world.... Didnt even finish my glass....

Bottle mail ordered direct. Amber with a subdued off white head. Nice pure aroma. Predominately malty with restrained english hop bitternrss. Rounded with reasonable body but no outstanding charactue. Maybe brewed for the traditionally low hopped scottish preferance, but pretty bland in my books. I wouldn’t bother ordering it again.

Wee bottle from Tesco. Good mix on the nose, malt & fruit. Clear amber with a thin white head. Well balanced palate, with a noticable citrus acidity. Fairly complex brew, but would be easy enough to drink in quantity though!

Bottle, Rainhall Drinks, Barnoldswick. Never my strong point Physics, but this ain’t a bad brew from the doghouse. Poured a murky amber colour with a restrained off white head. Fragrant hoppy aroma with some maltiness lurking. Caramel malt, marmalade, and grassy hop in the flavour. Quite a bitter finish. Pretty good stuff.

Hazy amber orange with a good thick white head. Oaty biscuits, bit like I’d imagine a cup of tea to taste, hops, little dry on the finish.

Pours an ever so slightly hazed caramel tinted amber with a 2-3 finger creamy eggshell head that has good retention. Aroma is lots of caramel, biscuit, citrus, pineapple, butterscotch and floral notes. Flavor is grain, caramel, floral, citrus, biscuit, green tea, herbal hops, fresh pita bread and buttery toffee. Finish is citrus and bitter hops with lasting caramel and toffee. Palate is medium body with a slick, creamy entry, crisp, dry finish and light yet fairly sharp carbonation. Definitely a good and pretty interesting amber but nothing too amazing.
