3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Capa (1633) - Philadelphia, USA - MAY 24, 2008
Thanks to TimE for providing the bottle. A very orange copper glow on this brew. Aroma is fruity and floral with noticeable bitter hops. Flavor is of sweet malts, citrus fruit, bitter but only on the sides of the tongue. The flavor doesn’t last very long. Good, but not great.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 reebtogi (2161) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - APR 13, 2012
330ml bottle pours amber in color with a finger of white head that leaves very little lacing behind. Aroma is caramel malts with some light fruits and a splashing of hops. Taste is caramel malty sweetness with citrus and cereal grains. Body is quite substantial for the ABV and carbonation was more than adequate. Above average for the style and definitely worth a try.

Bottle. Dirty orange pour. Dusty biscuity aroma and flavor. Tastes a bit old - and somewhat uninspired. It’s okay - but just okay.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Scopey (1659) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - NOV 8, 2011
Many times in bottle and most recently at the White Horse on Cask (March 2011). It pours amber, with a decent, fluffy off-white head. The nose is caramel malt, citrus fruits, grass and some floral. The taste is sweet caramel, toasted malt, biscuit, grass, earth and some citrus, with a dry finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Ok, but not up to the other Brewdog offerings.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 tombyars (1102) - Saltcoats, SCOTLAND - OCT 10, 2011
Tasted this at the Paisley Beer Festival in April 2007. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear copper red in colour with a thin white head. Rich fruity aroma laced with caramel. Pale malts give a fiery chewy base of moist maltloaf with rich berry fruits and a hint of butterscotch. Peppery hop resins add a bitter bite to the aftertaste. Finish is dry and woody with tart redcurrant fruit evident. A powerful ruby ale and tastes stronger than the 5% suggests. Well recommended.

750ml bottle from Pick’s poured into an English Pint. Bottle expired 6/6/2009. Pours a cloudy dark amber with a small bit of white head. Aroma of citrus and some sort of berry. Taste is very lightly sweet and lightly bitter. Taste of biscuit malt and blueberry. Light bodied with a thin texture, flat carbonation and not much of a finish. Overall, not bad for my first Brewdog. Something I’m glad I tried but won’t be drinking again.
3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 slimspady (39) - Lethbridge, Alberta, CANADA - AUG 29, 2011
Nice, fat white head on a crimson brew.
Intense and complicated aroma. Some oak notes.
Great taste. Not as good as some other red/amber ales. Nice caramel and roasted malty goodness.
Feels thicker than 5%. Not a bad thing, just not expected. The malt sticks around with a citus finish.
Good beer. I rarely buy beer twice (there’s just too many to try!), and this one of those. Glad I tried it, liked it, but not so much that I’d have it again.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Koelschtrinker (7038) - Köln (Cologne), North Rhine-Westphalia, GERMANY - JUN 21, 2011
Süßer, honigartiger ausbalancierter Geruch, etwas fruchtig. Sehr hopfiger Antrunk, leicht süßer Hopfen mit entsprechender Bittereinheit, dies wirkt sehr interessant. Vollmundig, im Nachgeschmack bitter-würzig, langer hopfiger Abgang.

22nd October 2007 Warning! Early amateur rating! Starts with crisp malts but then blooms in to quite a bitter-hop beer. Subtle smoky note. Okay.
