COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hark! A limited editon seasonal stout brewed with cocoa nibs and ginger stems.

In the true spirit of Christmas ’cheers’ we at BrewDog have taken it upon ourselves to create a Santas’s little helper for all those battling through the festive season.

Our crack team of elves, penguins and red nose raindeer have been crafting, brewing and perfecting this warming winter stout as a reward for all those driven to the brink and back in the name of Noel.

Now all you have to do is don that customary yule tide sweater and find a roaring open fire to enjoy it by.

In fact this beer is so good, we specifically advise against sharing it with any chimney intruding, night time visitors.

Oh and just remember, this BrewDog’s not for life, it’s just for Christmas.

Bottle. Dark brown with a small tan head. Very spicy nose, reminded strongly of gingerbread. The taste was not as spicy. Bitter taste with a rather thin mouth feel. Artful beer, ok but not in balance, one can safely say. Drinkable, but a bit "bothersome" in the long run.

33 cl bottle from Systembolaget. Dark brown/black appearance with tan, medium sized, thick head. Nice lacing. Smells sweet and "Christmasy". Notes of cinnamon, ginger and some hops. Taste is malty with some roasted tones and a little bitterness towards the ending. Ends rather quickly. Light to medium bodied with a somewhat watery mouthfeel. A bit disappointing coming from Brewdog.

Bottle, 4.7%. Spicy aroma, pungent christmas spice, but not the ginger they mention on the label. Almost black colour, good stable light brown head. The flavour starts off quite roasted, clean and a little bready. Then comes a clean bitterness, could be cocoa bitterness. OK drinkable beer, but the spiciness is a bit silly.

Bottle from Kvickly. Creamy off-white good mostly lasting head. DArk red-amber colour. Moderate malty and light hoppy aroma. Moderate bitter bad spicey flavor. Average moderate bitter finish. Oily palate. Boring and bad stout.

0.33L bottle from local REMA 1000 grocery store. Medium-sized, tan big-bubbled head. Clear, dark ruby body. A smell of gingerbread proves that Santa might be alive. Light and rounded malt body, generously spiced with ginger in the lead. Tones of acidic fruits and chocolate. Light without being thin. Slick in the mouth. Spicy endnotes. Ho ho ho.

They are right. After this there is no Santa. They just killed him! This is herbal spicy hell on bottle. In pours Black with a fluffy big off white head. The aroma is cinnamon, lots of ginger, chocolate, cardemom, caramel and sweet candy. The flavour is very spicy and herbal with notes of ginger, light chocolate, cardemom and caramel. Long spicy finish.

Bottle from SB, cons 2010-12-07 AR: to much cloves (more like glögg (Swedish gluwein)), resin, pine AP: dark, dark ruby red (amlost black), of white frothy head, nice curtains F: roasted malt, ginger bread, thin body, metallic feeling, medium high bitterness, some coffey. Definitivly not one of the better Brewdogs I have consumed!

[cask at Cloisters, Edinburgh] Dark brownish black with maybe a hint of red pour from the cask, with a decent creamy-coloured head. Aromas of roasted malt and some hops, plenty of gingerbread as well. This is the prime taste for me – it reminds me very much of German winter gingerbread, the spicy stuff usually covered in icing. Some nutmeg and clove flavours in there as well. Decent stuff on cask [01122010]

Bottle from Systembolaget. Being a huge Brewdog fan this was a must have for me. The aroma is very pleasant, a lot of spices mixing with the normal stout aromas. It looks like a stout as well, black, maybe the foam is a bit thin though. Then there is the taste, it is not all that great. The spices are decent but somehow, there is also a lot of hops, specially the first few sips that ruin everything. Usually I am all for hoppy beers but not when there are spices like these. I bought two bottles, going to let the other one sit in the cellar for a while and see how it turns out.
