COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hark! A limited editon seasonal stout brewed with cocoa nibs and ginger stems.

In the true spirit of Christmas ícheersí we at BrewDog have taken it upon ourselves to create a Santasís little helper for all those battling through the festive season.

Our crack team of elves, penguins and red nose raindeer have been crafting, brewing and perfecting this warming winter stout as a reward for all those driven to the brink and back in the name of Noel.

Now all you have to do is don that customary yule tide sweater and find a roaring open fire to enjoy it by.

In fact this beer is so good, we specifically advise against sharing it with any chimney intruding, night time visitors.

Oh and just remember, this BrewDogís not for life, itís just for Christmas.

Itís black/red-brown with a huge, creamy head, and the aroma has notes of Christmas spices, cocoa and licorice. The flavour is moderately sweet and rather thin with notes of Christmas spices, ginger, roasted malt, chocolate, licorice, and the finish is dry.

330ml bottle (Black Door, Helsinki)
5+ Sweet doughy christmas pudding spices, dried mixed peel. A bit sickly.
4 Dark, small off-white head.
5 Meh. Watery spicy taste. Not a stout by a million miles. Looks like the marketting bullshit has crept into the brewing side - this is a gutless beer slathered with caricatured spices. Strangely, I donít get either cocoa or ginger, which I really like. Iím getting cinnamon and clove, which I dislike. A mess.
3- Fairly thin palate, OK carbonation. Basically only the spices survive into the finish. As I said, reads "gutless" on the beer-o-meter
10 The most positive I can be about this is "drinkable". So certainly not bad enough to throw away, but normally these guys do much better with the dark beers, this has to be one of their worst. Only their hoppy ones have been worse, from memory.

Cask Conditioned gravity dispense Wig & Pen Northampton. a dark mahogany coloured beer with an off-white head. Proper Christmas spicing in this. Lots of cinnamon and clove. More restrained in the mouth but still plenty of spice. Ends quite boozy. Lacking roasty malts that youíd expect from a stout, but certainly seasonal,

Bottle. Very dark brown with a fluffy beige foam. Aromas are woody and nutty marzipan with coriander and cloves. Herbal and floral with roast coffee and liquorice. Flavours are coffee with hazelnut syrup and woody spices. Dry with spicy ginger and cloves. Light chocolate with more spices to finish. Very festive if a bit thin bodied.

330ml bottle bought and consumed at BrewPub KÝbenhavn. Rocky, beige-white head leaving fragile lacing behind. Deep mahogany body. Spiced aroma. Spices like cinnamon and mild pepper to the flavour profile, in interplay with pine needles. Dry and rounded ending. Thin to medium bodied. Easy to quaff (Copenhagen, 13.11.2010).

33 cl bottle thanks to ekstedt!
Batch 291, BB 17-10-11, sampled on December 15, 2010
Clear deep red color, smallish light brown head. First scent is mainly spicy. Then one (me) finds citrus, clove, cocoa, ginger, also sweet. A bit flat, dryish, cocoa, flor, apple taste. Dry cocoa powder aftertaste. Medium, low co2 mouthfeel, sort of smooth. Some alcohol bite/warming feeling. Medium bitterness.

[Trade by Dedollewaitor] Pours dark reddis brown with a light tan head. Aroma has notes of roasted malt, ginger and cinnemon?. Taste is light sweet with an average spicy finish. Body is light, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

Bottle courtesy of Jan, many thanks Jan! shared with my dad 05.11.10 Pours quite a dark brown colour with light beige head that is creamy textured. Incredibly spicy nose, nutmeg, star anise, cinnamon, itís all there along with some fine dark cocoa, quite stunning aroma. Cocoa powder in the mouth, dry finish, the taste is good, its chocolaty, malty and spicy but as fine as it is never quite reaches the high bar that the aroma set. A9 A4 T7 P4 Ov15 3.9

330ml bottle (batch 297, best before 4 September 2011) @ Christmas tasting on 28 December 2010. Dark brown colour with a reddish tinge. Thanks to Jan for bringing over this beer, which we cannot get in the UK. A fairly light-bodied stout with some powdery chocolate/cocoa. However, I am overly enamoured of a lot of spices in a beer and this was very heavily spiced indeed. Although not specifically mentioned in the commercial description, I thought I picked up lots of cinnamon & nutmeg as well as the ginger that is mentioned. OK but just far too much spice for my taste. All a matter of personal choice of course.

Bottle from AP Harvey Wines, Coventry, 18/06/12. 188 shopping days to go. Been a while since Iíve had a Dog so Iím eager to get stuck in. Deep ruby with a slim, blotching tan head. Surprising, Flemish sour edge and caramel aroma with mulled red wine. Heavily mulled taste with ginger and clove; some burnt wood and ill-matched, lingering bitterness. Regurgitated orange juice? Feels more alcoholic than its modest ABV. Ultimately not enough flavour or depth to carry the spices. Did nothing to enhance my mid-June sense of christmasiness.
