Bottle bought at Systembolaget on August 3. Consumed August 22. Pours a dark amber liquid with a brown/white head. A smell of tarred wood hits you almost at ones. Exploring the smell further gives you roasted malts, some caramel and alot of tar. Flavour is sweet and malty with a prominent whisky character. There is tar, tabacco and smoked wood combined with caramel, candy and some some hints of lemon. A strange beer but I must say I fell in the category who like it.

33cl bottle at Grünerløkka Brygghus. It poured an amber orange colour with a medium big white head. Aroma is peat, some smoke and malts. The flavour is sweet and malty with notes of caramel as well. A classic english barleywine, but after a short while the peat and smoke appears. There’s also some notes of alcohol, but it’s suprisingly well hidden.

330 ml bottle purchased at La Cerveteca, Barcelona. Practical clear amber body with a big, lasting, creamy off-white head. Strong aroma of peated malt, brown sugar, tobacco, caramel and whisky. Strong flavor of peat, sweet caramel malt, dry fruit, burnt sugar, bitterhops, citric fruit and warming alcohol and whisky. Strong body with a long and warming aftertaste. Quite unusually beer, a bit rough at the edges but rather enjoyable at the end.

clear brown, smooth offwhite head. woody , peaty caramelly and old hoppy aroma, for a barley wine, this is a little woody and smoked on top of the usual aroma. the laphoraig whisky malts can be sensed. in the flavor, lots of booze in the aroma, but not stingy. flavor is peat whiskey, mals, warming alc. it does taste like a bw that has been thrown into a laphoriagh barrel. In fact i like it a lot, but then, i’m a bit of a peat smoked whisky fan to begin with.

Bottle. It’s really hard to say anything other about this beer than the fact that its drowned in smoke. Some vegtable notes. A little sweet. But why hide away all things beery with whisky influences?

Bottle. Pours red brown with a tan head. Aroma of whiskey and chlorine. Too heavy on the whiskey so the beer was rather hidden behind smoak and oak, some sweetness revealed that it wasn’t a stout in the bottle.

Amber, with a fairly tall and dense blond head. Smokey malt aroma. Roasted malt and caramel, slight smoked flavor. Alcohol kick. Very nice beer.

Shared bottle @Bishops Arms, København. Near-clear brownish amber, with a fairly tall and dense blond head. A light solventy alcohol smell up front, followed by a sweetish whiff of smokey, light peaty malts. Big and sweet malt body. Burnt caramel, campfire, pepper and some fruity bitterness in the flavor. Juicy texture. Alcohol warmth througout. Feels a bit rough around the edges. Will proably improve with cellaring.
