Intergalactic Fantastic Oak Aged Stout
The irony of existentialism, the parody of being and the inherent contradictions of post-modernism, all so delicately conveyed by the blocky, pixelated arcade action have all been painstakingly recreated in this bottles contents.

This imperial stout is brewed with copious amounts of speciality malts, jasmine and cranberries. After fermentation we then dry-hop this killer stout with a bucketload of our favourite hops before carefully ageing the beer on French toasted oak chips.

It is all about moderation. Everything in moderation, including moderation itself. What logically follows is that you must, from time, have excess. This beer is for those times.

Sample at Ale Alpharetta. Pours black, with some ruby hues and a minimal head. The aroma is immense butterscotch and cranberries, with some vanilla and sherry notes. Very, very sweet and boozy. Very heavy body, sticky, and thick. This is a huge, thick, milkshake of a beer. Delicious and unfortunately easy to drink.

Basically the same recipe as the first batch, but with a lot more alcohol. Creamy beige head, decreasing but leaving a rim around the edge of the glass, much more stable than expected from a beer this strong; colour black, with ruby hue only visible under (very) bright light. Unbelievably complex and overwhelming, yet appealing aroma of dozens of things, including banana, coffee, chocolate, cocoa powder, vanilla, soy sauce, caramel, pear syrup, whisky, kahlua, raisins, cinnamon, pepper,... Equally powerful taste, sweet and slick, very profound maltiness, truckloads of caramel and chocolate, so many things going on in the palate including vivid spicy notes and gentle candied fruits, very thick and oily mouthfeel, powdery too, smoothly merging into a very complex, roasted, hoppy, vinous finish with warming alcohol, which - much to my surprise - manages to stay a lot less astringent than in many beers half its strength. I almost fell off my chair tasting this, the aroma is downright superb. I can hardly grasp where this brewery keeps inventing such masterpieces... Unforgettable experience.

Black color with brown notes and a beige short lasting head. Aroma is complex, liquorish, with dark fruits and coffee. Taste is very sweet, with cranberries, toffee, licorice and vanilla. Full bodied and with dry finish. Can’t find the hops at all. A bit unbalanced aftertaste, with clearly alcoholic touches. Extreme and complex.

Taste first in 16,5% bottle (was a short version in System Bolaget??) Dark, almost black espresso color, quite liquid with minimal brown head. The aroma is caramel, chocolate. The taste extremely sweet. Not my style at all... Very full body, oily texture, flat carbonisation and abrupt finish (sweet anyhow) Overall, a bit too extreme. Could have appreciated it, even without liking the kind of beer, but in this case it is so extreme that it is difficult to rate better ... Maybe will rerate with the 18,2 version in the cellar now, but it can’t ne much different ... Or?

Bottle from BrewDog website. 2014: Aged for 5 years; powerful, rich red fruit, marzipan, and port-like flavours, red wine notes and a warming, smooth creamy alchoholic finish. Tastes like a 10% beer rather that 18%, nice! 2009: A thick black beer with a very, very, extremely! rich, hot spicy stout-like flavour. It has notes of extremely rich red fruit, chocolate and liquorice and a smokey hoppy warming alcoholic finish.

It is not the best Stout I have tried but probably the strongest one... That is probably also the whole thing, it must have been more important to make a beer with 18.2 percent alcohol than great taste. It tastes a bit like cold coffe if you would have drunken it from a cup of wood. Nice color of the beer, black as night and cool label but I won’t buy this again.

One of my favorites, poors black. Sweet and a little boozy, which I like. Extremely smooth beer, nothing like it.

Jet black pour with a hint of cola and little to no head, Whiskey, oak, licorice and strong alcoholic spirit burn to the nose. Cocoa and ash hint at the bitterness. Very sweet to start, licorice, coca cola, drambuie liquor, sweetness definitely dominates. A nice woody edge and some grapefruit acid to help cut through the sweetness. The finish is mostly alcoholic, a little burnt malt, but mostly drinks like a nice whiskey based liquor. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
