1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Notes from old backlog: Very deep brown pour with a ruby hue- surprisingly decent head retention for the ABV. There’s a sticky thin tna lace left on the glass. Sweet aroma of raisin/date paste, maltose, maple like and solventy with some fusels noted. Cough medicine texture. Goes down slow and hot. Under attenuated, huge and maple like, nondescript booze, and excessive maltose. One dimensional and pretty much undrinkable. Not a fan of Brew Dog.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle, Systembolaget Lund. Black black black with the faintest reddish tinge. A surprisingly big head, though it recedes quickly. Man, this beer is alive! On the nose wafts of vanilla, spices, dried figs: imperial stout stuff. Yet it's all surprisingly (that word again) restrained. The palate is hefty, as you would expect, but the viscousness makes it (promise won't use that word again) so easy to drink. Oh boy, beware that 16.5% ... Truly top dog stuff.

This beer is so black and flat you could mistake it for vinegar. I say that in a good way. This beer had full flavor and at 18.2% watch your butt!

4 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Aroma: spice, licorice, jasmine, herb, cough syrup, milk, cocoa, chilli, coffee, cherry, liquor, oak, vanilla, red fruit; Appearance: dark brown, vanishing frothy head; Taste: intense sweetness, intense bitterness, medium sourness; Palate: average carbonation, bitter finish, medium body, thick texture
Boozy, with plenty of alcoholic warmth, aromatic, hop-loaded, slightly too fizzy. Oak is hard to notice. If not for the bitter kick, the sweetness would be unbearable.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Wow! One of the biggest beers I’ve ever had, but there is a shocking smoothness too it. Some alcohol warmth, oak, bitter chocolate, dark strong coffee, some dark fruits (berries), vanilla. Big thick mouthfeel, slick on the tongue. Pitch black pour with sticky oil cocoa colored head. Glad to have tried this beer.

4.2 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Deep black body with ring tan head. Aroma has a balanced woody character, alcohol notes, dried plums, forest fruit. Some roastiness, but mostly overwhelmed by the berry-like fruit jam. Taste has high roasty bitterness upfront with complex sweetness coming in next, strawberries, blackberries, plums. Body is oily, heavy, full, low carbonation.

3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20

From a well aged 12 oz bottle...poured in wine glass. Mohagany burgandy with minimal head. Aroma of dark roasted malts. Moderate carbonation and big body. Flavors of dark roasted malts, peat, alcohol, roasty grains. Overall big, bold, bodacious.
