Intergalactic Fantastic Oak Aged Stout
The irony of existentialism, the parody of being and the inherent contradictions of post-modernism, all so delicately conveyed by the blocky, pixelated arcade action have all been painstakingly recreated in this bottles contents.

This imperial stout is brewed with copious amounts of speciality malts, jasmine and cranberries. After fermentation we then dry-hop this killer stout with a bucketload of our favourite hops before carefully ageing the beer on French toasted oak chips.

It is all about moderation. Everything in moderation, including moderation itself. What logically follows is that you must, from time, have excess. This beer is for those times.

[On-tap at The Friendly Spot] I wasn’t going to pay the high price for this beer, but the person I was with did, so I tried some of his. After having tried it, I am extremely glad I didn’t order it. An odd solvent-like (similar to acetone, but slightly different) aroma is very prevalent when cold, but it faded as it warmed. Other than that, this beer is completely dominated by raisin, molasses, and alcohol. A little green pepper, chocolate, and day-old coffee were also in there. Good, thick mouthfeel with a long finish (more chocolate here). What a sweet, boozy mess. Incredible that this is rated so highly, because I found it to be a nearly undrinkable trainwreck.

From the bottle. Pours very dark with little to no head. Definite smell of the barrel aging. Big beer with wonderful taste that unfolds as it warms.

Black color with a medium, dark brown head. Smells of dried fruits and licorice. Medium sweet, alcohol spicy, fruity, light licorice taste. In my opinion a very good drinkable beer.

the aroma of caramel, dark fruits and port with hints of burnt malts and licorice... the taste is caramel with notes of red wine, dark fruits and chocolate... rather noticeable alcohole... sweet, dry and warming aftertaste... nice stout...

Bottle from Vinmonopolet’s BU. Pours very dark brown. Hints of a brown to grey head, which barely covers half the surface. Alcohol, leather, tobacco and wood nose. Some red fruit. Thick and very, very oily body. Could almost eat it with a spoon. Low carbonation, but the little carbonation that is there, is tingly enough to keep the beer from appearing flat. Warming alcohol. Dark chocolate, red fruit, wood, alcohol flavour. Complex. Bitter. Some hidden sweetness.

Słodycz zostaje do samego końca. Kolor to prawie czysta czerń. Piana gęsta choć mała, czemu również się nie dziwię. Generalnie, za dużo alkoholu, za dużo słodów, ale intrygujący smak i aromat. Dla mnie bardziej nalewka niż piwo.

Wich such a high ABV the alcohol is of course quite noticeble in both the aroma and taste. But thats almost the only negative thing about this beer, because it’s extremely well balanced and tasty. I like it.

Transferring some earlier reviews from my blog to RB. Mai 2014, Bottledog (ca £ 12), 33 cl. Valades tökatiselt süsimust pruunikas-punakate servadega, aeglaselt voolav, paks. Vahtu peaaegu ei tekigi. Aroom... röstitud linnasene selgroog; kange kohvine, marjane, soojenedes muutub alkoholitäidisega ploomi-šokolaadikommiseks. Juues väga tiheda, peaaegu mullitu paletiga, ülikleepjas ja tihke-täidlane. Kangus tabab alles neelatades, täites kurgu šokolaadi-kohvi-liköörise ja kergelt marjase tulejoaga. Järelmaik jääb robustselt magusakas-kohvine, suti köömneselt vürtsikas. Suurt sõõmu ei soovitaks.

Flaska från SB. Svart med vitt skum. Tung söt doft av malt och portvin. Söt med smak av mörka bär.

Pours a very dark brown color, almost black, topped with an average tan colored head. There’s a roasted aroma, some notes of caramel and fruits and quite some alcohol. Taste is sweet, roasty. Slightly fruity with bittery finish. Quite some alcohol which gives that burning feel in the aftertaste. A bit too strong for my taste.
