3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 DuffMan (5247) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - JUN 5, 2013
Bottle, shared with my wife. Very dark brown, viscous pour with a dense brown cap. Super-sweet sticky body, lots of barrel character but that isn’t what kills this for me. There is so much residual sugar, it’s cloying. Not as hot as I’d expected for a brew that clocks in at 18+% ABV, but it is a sweet cloying mess. The first Brewdog brew that is a major disappointment for me (I don’t count Penguin-- my hopes were not set high for that one in the first place!).

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 gruberm (85) - - MAY 19, 2013
Strong smelling with a sugary alcohol aroma. A wonderfully pleasant taste, almost port like in quality with a to he of roughness from the high alcohol content.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 dnicolaescu (155) - Chișinău, MOLDOVA - MAY 14, 2013
Head: coffee, medium, frothy, fast disappearing. Colour: black with some dark amber highlights.
Aroma: super-intense, sweet, dried fruit/berries, chocolate, alcohol, stale. Taste: very sweet dried berries and alcohol, very bitter and spicy as well. Not that boozy for its abv, the sweetness keeps alcohol under control. A very intense beer, but also very hard to drink. They should sell it bottles half the size.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 kerenmk (1241) - Tel Aviv, ISRAEL - MAY 13, 2013
Bottle shared at a tasting at our place. Thanks beerandbeyond for fetching it. Cloudy to opaque muddy brown with tar tan ring. Smoke and cranberry aroma, very fruity with some jasmine tea and then ink and roast. Very heavy, sweet and a little alcoholic, liquor, and maybe a little soy in the mouth. Syrupy, smooth texture, full body and no carbonation.

The flavor is boozy and overly sweet. Caramel, sugar, and licorice. Dark fruit, some roasted malt, and notes of dark chocolate and coffee.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 spacecube (369) - Leeds, West Yorkshire, ENGLAND - MAY 11, 2013
From a 330ml bottle, deep dark pour with a foamy head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, white sugar, wood, cherries and a touch of port. Very sweet to start, unsure at first whether this is a quality brew or just a big sugar rush. It does calm down and I got used to the sweetness and there is a nice balance of flavours. Extra marks for being 18%.
