Keg and bottled, series
The unsung heroes, the foot soldiers of the revolution. We owe a huge debt to the billions of tiny yeast cells that work tirelessly to ferment sugars into alcohol and CO2. But yeast isn’t just here for the grunt work. Yeast has the power to change the flavour, aroma and complexion of your beer in an instant. This series is designed to showcase the impact different yeasts have on the same base beer.
This series of 4 beers gives the limelight to four totally different yeast strains: Belgian Trappist, Pilsen Lager, American Ale and Bavarian Weizen. All 4 beers have been brewed to the same ABV using a blend of Centennial and Amarillo hops and a backbone of Pale Ale, Munich and Cara Malts. Malts: Maris Otter, Crystal Malt, Caramalt
Hops: Centennial, Amarillo
Twist: Each beer is identical except for the different yeast used to ferment the beers creating 4 radically different beers from the same starting point

33 cl. bottle split with Kraddel. Procured by him. BBF 10/10/2014. After the bizarre pils & hefe yeast combo in this series, they finally picked a yeast that makes sense with their choice of hops, malts etc. Bright amber but more orange with white bubbles. Smells of orange peel hops, herbal hops, overall sticky fruity with candy sugar, sticky pine hops. Tastes of the usual BrewDog hop mix, orange peel, herbs, candy sugar sweet, marmalade, lots of toffee, light grass, sweet pine resin,… Pretty sweet for the style. Light body, willing to bet that this beer differs very little from Punk IPA.

From the 4 pack. Gently fizzing golden amber with a generous bleached foam going the distance. Fragrant with lychee and guava hints; background biscuit and cinder toffee; stewed green tomato stem, peach, curry leaf and ground seed spice. Fine condition, low carbonation, excellent stewed Darjeeling and dunked biscuit character sprinkled with more exotic tropical hop. Grapefruit and biscuit linger with some booze. Rather decent, hop-fresh, stewed IPA- whatever the yeast.

330ml bottle, pours golden brown with a small head, aroma is hoppy, grapefruit, orange citrus with biscuit and caramel malt backbone, good balance, finish is bitter. Good beer could do with a bit more depth.

33cl bottle from Appellation Wines. Appearance - amber with a nicely proportioned head. Nose - oranges with a little bit of toffee. Just a touch of fresher citrus, perhaps grapefruit on the end. Taste - definitely some grapefruit this time and some more toffee and biscuits. However, there’s a soapy note that kind of spoils it. Palate - medium bodied and textured, a fairly fresh finish. Overall - good but shame about the soap, which does spoil it.

Bottle. Hazy gold with an off white foam. Aromas are biscuit and caramel with satsuma and lemon. Green, floral pine with nutty woodiness. Light mixed tropical fruit with green apple. Flavours are crisp and fruity with grapefruit and pine. Herbal and grassy with peachy and tropical fruit notes. Peppery and green to finish. Nice.

330 ml bottle. Pours a slightly unclear copper orange with a small head. Aroma of biscuit, dried fruits, grapefruit and floral notes. Flavour of caramel, floral notes, grapefruit, biscuit and some pine. Medium bodied and smooth mouthfeel. Refreshing but could use more crispy hoppiness.
