Keg and bottled, series
The unsung heroes, the foot soldiers of the revolution. We owe a huge debt to the billions of tiny yeast cells that work tirelessly to ferment sugars into alcohol and CO2. But yeast isn’t just here for the grunt work. Yeast has the power to change the flavour, aroma and complexion of your beer in an instant. This series is designed to showcase the impact different yeasts have on the same base beer.
This series of 4 beers gives the limelight to four totally different yeast strains: Belgian Trappist, Pilsen Lager, American Ale and Bavarian Weizen. All 4 beers have been brewed to the same ABV using a blend of Centennial and Amarillo hops and a backbone of Pale Ale, Munich and Cara Malts. Malts: Maris Otter, Crystal Malt, Caramalt
Hops: Centennial, Amarillo
Twist: Each beer is identical except for the different yeast used to ferment the beers creating 4 radically different beers from the same starting point

Bottle from Rehills, Newcastle. This is a golden beer with a sweet malty and floral fruity flavour, warming earthy notes and bitter hop finish.

Keg at BD Shepard’s Bush. Clear dark orange coloured pour with a big lasting off white froth. Aroma is sweet honey nut malt and earthy hop. Some dried fruits in the nose as well. Flavour is homey, unrefined sugar and nutty malt. Somewhat under attenuated. Finish is earthy hops and twigs. Slightly sticky sweet palate. Tasty enough.

Butelka 0.33L. Barwa ciemnozłota, wpadający w bursztyn. Piwo klarowne, przygaszone. Piana w kolorze złamanej bieli, średniopęcherzykowa, szybko dziurawi się i znika. Piana najsłabsza z całej serii a barwa chyba najciemniejsza. Aromat: miodowy, chmielowy, słodkie dojrzałe owoce, mango, marakuja, biszkopt, toffee i lekko wyczuwalny alkohol. Z butelki również wyczuwalny karmel. Smak: palony cukier, miód i trochę chmielu ale mniej niż w pozostałych trzech z serii UTY. Słodkie z niewielką goryczką, niezbalansowane i dość nudne. Ogólnie za słodkie i płaskie, miodowe. Wysycenie średnie-, ciało średnie+. Najsłabsze z serii ale faktycznie profil od drożdży dość czysty, które niewiele od siebie wnosiły.

Bottle. Pretty orange-amber color. Fine head. Malty nose, I get the pilsner aspect, light citrus hops. Flavors of orange, lemon, grass, light caramel, nicely bitter. Decent flavor. Quite bitter, and bit dirty in the finish. Decent enough.

Aroma: sweet, honey, malt. Taste: very sweet, malt, a little bit of hop. Very different from your average mass market lager (or any lager for that matter). A-typical. Much better than Brewdog’s Fake Lager

4-pack of the yeast series. The four beers (american ale, bavarian weizen, belgian trappist and pilsen lager) are all ok but more of an interestibg experiment than great beers.

Flaska, ebest från SB. Bärnstensfärgad med stort kolsyrigt lätt smutsvitt skum. Dofter och smaker av blomster, citrusmarmelad och vitt bröd. Alkoholen tränger (alltför) starkt igenom i smaken. Fyllig kropp.
