COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Zeitgeist is an ideosyncratic alternative black lager It seeks to recreate the spirit, attitude and autonomy of an age gone by. Its inspiration is found more than 200 years ago. Zeitgeist takes an age old classic, a forgotten masterpiece and gives it relevance and an avant-garde edge. Zeitgeist encapsulates our view of contemporary society, yet simultaneously endeavours to improve it. There is too much conformity. Not enough thought, not enough individualism, not enough alternatives. Our military line ups represent conformity to a higher authority, be it political, brand, celebrity, religion or trend. The subjects in our dystopian landscape further seek to repress their identity through uniforms and masks. Yet underneath their body shapes reveal cracks of personality and individualism. Zeitgeist is about identity, non-conformity and idiosyncrasy. It is a collective, an idea, a movement. It is about giving up ownership of itself to those who care enough to listen.

Thick black body and a brown lasting creamy head. Aroma of roasted malt, black coffee and licorice. The taste is heavy sweet and medium bitter with a bitter finish from the roasted malt. Sticky texture.

Bottle. Dark brown body, tall beige head. Aroma has cola, coffee and some cocoa. The aroma resembles some Imperial Stouts - just close your eyes and smell it again. Sweet roasty taste with more cola and cocoa. Good roast and bitterness. A nice Schwarzbier but the commercial description is really TL;DR.

Pours opaque black and you get an instant cocoa aroma which followed by very subtle hop aroma. Light bodied with subtle roasted malt flavour and finishes bitter.

Cola colored with a medium beige head. Aroma is malty sweet, roasted, with some fruity hoppiness. Rather promising. Taste is roasted malts with rye and bread, some fruitiness too as expected. Smooth and bitter too, this is really pleasent and even more when considering the abv. Could have some more of these yeah. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at BrewDog Sao Paulo. Pours black almost opaque with a minimal frothy head. It has a slightly malty aroma with hints of fruit. Although you can taste the malt it is not sweet and surprisingly bitter with a quite hoppy finish. There is better Schwarzbier out there.

Kauge (91) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - JUL 29, 2014
Bottle from Pothole (Koht’s newly opened bottle shop) in Tallinn (€ 3,50), July 2014. Pours a very deep dark brown with a red hue (black as night in the glass); head is big and fluffy, tan, retaining, leaving good lacing. Nose is roasted malts and some caramel (the classic Buratino lemonade, but that disappears fast); also something burnt and liquorice-like. Taste is very clear roased malts, or cool coffee for that matter, slightly chocolaty, with some bitter and sour tingling in the finish. Body is very light, palate soft and velvety, carbonation low. Overall a good one, though I reckon I’d have enjoyed it more in a cool winter evening than in a boiling summer night.
