Great dark lager (although not very dark lagery...). Smooth, rich, chocolatey, plenty of nibbling citrusy hops. Very drinkable. In the bottle it’s good, out of the cask it can be incredible. This rate is from the bottle.

Pours dark brown, thin beige head. Cold toast aroma, some smoke. Delicate mouthfeel and taste. Insistent carbonation. Hints of cherry sweetness. Pumpkin seeds. Dutch licorice and cocoa. Some burnt notes. Finish just continues the flavour of the beer, with the grassiness poking through a little. Good.

Bottle. Pours a chestnut brown with a slow-to-rise medium brown head. Aroma is burnt toast and caramel. Flavours are of intense burnt malts with some underlying molasses and coffee. Charred bitterness. Nice flavours but rather thin mouthfeel.
