Zeitgeist is an ideosyncratic alternative black lager It seeks to recreate the spirit, attitude and autonomy of an age gone by. Its inspiration is found more than 200 years ago. Zeitgeist takes an age old classic, a forgotten masterpiece and gives it relevance and an avant-garde edge. Zeitgeist encapsulates our view of contemporary society, yet simultaneously endeavours to improve it. There is too much conformity. Not enough thought, not enough individualism, not enough alternatives. Our military line ups represent conformity to a higher authority, be it political, brand, celebrity, religion or trend. The subjects in our dystopian landscape further seek to repress their identity through uniforms and masks. Yet underneath their body shapes reveal cracks of personality and individualism. Zeitgeist is about identity, non-conformity and idiosyncrasy. It is a collective, an idea, a movement. It is about giving up ownership of itself to those who care enough to listen.

Beergaard (43) - Aarhus, DENMARK - MAR 31, 2014
Not as alternative as BrewDog likes to describe it. Decent black lager, or scwarzbier if you like, but nothing special. Beautiful dark color, very sparsely carbonized, mild aroma with hints of flowers and metal and a sweetish taste with some bitterness and notes of coffee, caramel and dark chocolate

Wischylini (120) - Grimstad, NORWAY - MAR 22, 2014
Pours a clear black, with no head. The aromas are mostly roast malts, cocoa and liquorice, and a slightly sour metallic aroma. The taste is sweet, and low on the bitterness. The mouthfeel is a bit thick, and there’s almost no carbonation. This beer is a lot more boring than Brew Dog’s "radical image" makes it appear, and if you’re in the mood for a generic dark beer with a roasted aroma and not much else, you might as well go for a Guinness, which costs less.

Moolesen (152) - NETHERLANDS - FEB 27, 2014
Bottle 33cl. Black with a beige head (very short). Malty nose with caramel. A bit flat, not impressive taste. Miss body and richness. Suttle bitter finish, which not lasts very long. A bit disappointing beer from this brewery.

Saeglopur (251) - Vienna Woods, AUSTRIA - FEB 26, 2014
Bottle from Ammersin, Vienna. Black body, with medium, creamy, tan head, that leaves a lot of lacing. Aroma of coffee, wood, dark chocolate, liquorice, dark fruits. Tastes of coffee, dark chocolate, wood, dark fruits, toast, grains. Medium mouthfeel, with medium carbonation and it finishes roasty-bitter, dry and wooden. Nice one, but maybe a bit too thin. Decent Schwarzbier, but there a better ones.
