Zeitgeist is an ideosyncratic alternative black lager It seeks to recreate the spirit, attitude and autonomy of an age gone by. Its inspiration is found more than 200 years ago. Zeitgeist takes an age old classic, a forgotten masterpiece and gives it relevance and an avant-garde edge. Zeitgeist encapsulates our view of contemporary society, yet simultaneously endeavours to improve it. There is too much conformity. Not enough thought, not enough individualism, not enough alternatives. Our military line ups represent conformity to a higher authority, be it political, brand, celebrity, religion or trend. The subjects in our dystopian landscape further seek to repress their identity through uniforms and masks. Yet underneath their body shapes reveal cracks of personality and individualism. Zeitgeist is about identity, non-conformity and idiosyncrasy. It is a collective, an idea, a movement. It is about giving up ownership of itself to those who care enough to listen.

Some roasted malts, caramel, bread, decent hops. Makes good play between roasted bitterness and hop bitterness, but finishes, bit too thin for me. Decent, but one time try

Dark caramel aroma, pretty dry. Not my type. Preferred it to be sweeter. Low character alert

330ml bottle from Brewdog online shop. Dark black-brown colour, bubbly tan head leaving lacing and deep malty coffee-ish aroma. Taste is malty, chocolate, coffee, followed by hops, citrus notes and lingering bitterness plus a burnt aftertaste. Smoothish mouthfeel, medium bodied, soft to medium carbonation, dry roast bitter finish. Quite drinkable.

Tasted from the tap the 11/09/2014. Brown to black colour with a medium tan and foamy head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee and dark chocolate. Taste is well balanced between the bitternes of the coffee with the sweet. Aftertaste is dry and bitter with the presence of the coffee on the mouth. Medium body with a good carbonation. Really enjoyable beer. Next one please!

This was the first Brewdog I?ve ever had and therefore has a special meaning to me.Best before date was 09/08/2014, drunk on September 6, 2014.When I opened the bottle, it immediately foamed over. That was a crazy gusher. Still smelled fine, though.Pure black color with grey foam. Strong aroma or roasted malts and coffee in the nose. Starts off surprisingly fresh, but the roasted coffee immediately takes over. Bitter finish, smooth carbonation. Some people might call it "overroasted", and I can understand it.Tastes like I remembered it, as far as I can tell. It?s the beer that got me into craft beer, so it has a special place in my heart.
