Zeitgeist is an ideosyncratic alternative black lager It seeks to recreate the spirit, attitude and autonomy of an age gone by. Its inspiration is found more than 200 years ago. Zeitgeist takes an age old classic, a forgotten masterpiece and gives it relevance and an avant-garde edge. Zeitgeist encapsulates our view of contemporary society, yet simultaneously endeavours to improve it. There is too much conformity. Not enough thought, not enough individualism, not enough alternatives. Our military line ups represent conformity to a higher authority, be it political, brand, celebrity, religion or trend. The subjects in our dystopian landscape further seek to repress their identity through uniforms and masks. Yet underneath their body shapes reveal cracks of personality and individualism. Zeitgeist is about identity, non-conformity and idiosyncrasy. It is a collective, an idea, a movement. It is about giving up ownership of itself to those who care enough to listen.

Bottle from Systembolaget@Strömstad. Dark redblack colour that could be mistaken for a dark redwine save for the head and carbonation. Tanned head. Smells slightly metallic and of old stuffed attic. Carbonation is lively at first, but dies quickly. Waterly taste of roasted malts. Hints of coffee. Has a snappy bitterish aftertaste. Enjoyable, but this isn’t really a "good" beer if I am to give the word justice.

Kolanvärinen, kohtalaisesti vaahtoava olut. Tuoksu tumman maltainen ja paahteinen, siirappisen karamellinen ja limppuinen. Maultaan tumman maltainen, paahteinen, ruislimppuinen ja jopa aavistuksen hedelmäinen. Kiva pieni katkero häilyy taustalla. Keskitäyteläinen suutuntuma. Loistava maitokauppaolut!

Black, slightly translucent body, thick tan head. Looks a lot like cola aside from the head. Fairly strong aroma of malts, syrup and sugary sweetness with a bit of hops in the background. Taste is a bit dry and somewhat watery with some bitterness. Smooth, tingly mouthfeel. Weak body and medium carbonation. It’s alright but not great.

Pint, keg. Pours black with a thick tan head subsiding slowly. Scent is light and empty, little bit of grain. Taste is medium dark roasted malt and more plainness. Finish is clean and smooth. Good. Fine.
