I did not expect to have a good schwarzbier out of Scotland. But this is really really good, going beyond ticking the style boxes and showing some artistry. aroma is just beautiful, a blanket of mild earthy/flowery saaz and a fantastic fresh malt smell, like walking past a brewery. In the mouth you have nutty munich malt doing most of the work, supported by touches of chocolate and salted licorice with a body judged just right - satisfyingly full but light enough to swill fast. Has the long dry coffee/saaz finish that makes good czech cernys scarily moreish. Classy stuff!

Jan 5, 2010 0.33 L bottle from Systembolaget. A tan, big-bubbled lacing head, upon a deep burgundy body. Pleasant smell of sweetish, rounded, lightly toasted dark malts. Some ripe apples, and a whiff chocolate. Taste is initial dry, becomes light bitter-sweet with a gentle roast tone. Faint coffee and pepper. Slick in the mouth. Distinct malty-bitter finish. Tasty and easy drinkable.

Praticamente senza schiuma (unica nota negativa, a mio parere). Aromatica, intensa, con note di caramello evidentissime. Al gusto è leggera ma con un discreto corpo; si colgono note di frutta secca, mou ed ovviamente caramello. Il tutto lascia un leggero retrogusto affumicato. Devo ammettere che mi è piaciuta veramente. Una lager scura che di certo non si beve tutti i giorni. Consigliata.

Jan 3, 2010 Bottle. Brown body with a medium tan head. Mainly a roasted aroma character with light coffee and sweet caramel notes. The flavour is light burned malt, light fruit, caramel and toffee. Ends up roasty and bitter.

Jan 1, 2010 Deep amhogany with a medium beige head, Sweet aroma with roasted malt, caramel and and rye bread. Sweet flavour with had roasted malt. Finished sweet.

Dec 30, 2009 Bottle: Clear dark red colour, thin head. Aroma Was fruity and citrus was dominated in the aroma, some sournes in the end was are there to(?) Hm, this was weard, but innterestning.
flavor was smokey/astery, some dry hopy mouth feeling was there to in the end. Thin body, and short finish.

Fruit and whisky aroma. Dark coloured smooth on the palate and slightly bitter with a lasting malt finish.

Dec 23, 2009 Dark roast malt with a hint of cherry aroma pours in to a jet black pour and mocha head. Flavour is great dark roasted malts, that finishes with a hint of sweetness and drying tannins. Another superb beer from these guys.

Dec 18, 2009 Brownish black color with a beige bubbly head. Fresh aroma with lots of dark roasted malt, coffee and coriander. Nice flavour of dark malts, coffe and burnt wood. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel, a really nice one.
