COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Zeitgeist is an ideosyncratic alternative black lager It seeks to recreate the spirit, attitude and autonomy of an age gone by. Its inspiration is found more than 200 years ago. Zeitgeist takes an age old classic, a forgotten masterpiece and gives it relevance and an avant-garde edge. Zeitgeist encapsulates our view of contemporary society, yet simultaneously endeavours to improve it. There is too much conformity. Not enough thought, not enough individualism, not enough alternatives. Our military line ups represent conformity to a higher authority, be it political, brand, celebrity, religion or trend. The subjects in our dystopian landscape further seek to repress their identity through uniforms and masks. Yet underneath their body shapes reveal cracks of personality and individualism. Zeitgeist is about identity, non-conformity and idiosyncrasy. It is a collective, an idea, a movement. It is about giving up ownership of itself to those who care enough to listen.

Bottled (thanks to the craziest bartender ever!). Deep rubyish amber colour with mediumsized slightly off-white head, some lace. Aroma is Roasted malts along with sweet fruits, liquorice and some slight burnt sugary notes. Flavour is quite much the same along with some slight coffeeish notes. Some grassyness lurking in there as well.

Bottled at Stockholm Beer Festival. Near black, small head. Coffeeish and roasty. Light-medium body. Grass and light chocolate. Marked bitter finish. The clean mouthfeel reduces drinkability, but some of thatis made up for by an extensive array of flavours.

Clear but very dark red-brown beer. Crispish semi dry palate. Minerally and somewhat tangy malt that is a little bit roasty. Finishes watery with minerals and hop bitterness. Not my favourite dark lager by a country mile.

Draught at Ørsted, Copenhagen
The color is almost black, just some dark mahogany reflex on the borders of the glass; the head is very small. Initially it has a light, nice roasted malt aroma, but not persistent, then some caramel and fruity hops; delicate. The roasted malt creates a rather dry mouthfeel; its flavor, with the quite strong bitterness and a subdued fruitness make of this a pleasant beer, but reminding more a good Stout than a Schwarz; there is surely a good hopping, but quite covered by the roasted malt; later, there is a light liquorice touch. Lean, morphing, well drinkable, balanced.
