4.4 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
330 ml bottle from Passion Birra. Served in a snifter. Pours a black as night, with some rich blood red highlights., with two finger espresso-brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffe beans, smoke, maybe a hint of dark chocolate too. Same flavours in the mouth longside some hops bitterness that leaves a pleasent aftertaste. The carbonation is there, spot-on and help the drinking abilty. Lightly watery texture in a tipical Schwarzbier fashion. I could drink this stuff everytime, what a great session beer! Awesome label design too!

Bottle 0,33L. Very dark, almost black beer with light brown small head, or I should say crown instead of head. Aroma of black coffee, roasted malts, dark chocolate, dried fruits. Taste is bitter with even more bitter aftertaste.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: JUN 24, 2012 One of the best I’ve ever had. Bottled, from Zly Casy, Prague. Dark, with a modest head. Lots of chocolate and roasted malts in taste and aroma, incredibly smooth (the smoother-feeling beer I’ve had was the Left Hand Milk Stout). A great beer, not shocking or innovative in any way, but incredibly pleasant.

A very comfortable beer. Best after a tasty roast beef of lamb, or such, to even things out. Altogether soft and easy, still with a full body. This time I had it right after BrewDogs Hardcore IPA, and the difference could not be greater.

Drank on tap at Brew Dog Nottingham. Recommended by the very friendly and knowledgeable bar man. The beer looks and smells like an old school stout but has the hoppy palate and drinkability of a high quality lager. Another unique beer from Brew Dog who rarely fail to impress me. So so good.

Tap at Blue Palms. This really encroached on porter for me, and I mean that as a compliment. Nose was melty chocolate and really roasted caramel. Color was a nice flat black with no head. Flavor was that same chocolate and malt - light nuttiness? - with a thick creaminess - great texture. Probably the thickest Schwartzbier I’ve encountered, and I’m including Shorts Sustenance.

Pure black, with a large bubble head, settles down to small clumps of big bubbles and great lacing.
Aroma of cocoa and roasted coffee with milk.
Flavor begins with dark milk chocolate and progresses to a roasted malt finish.
Nice full body.
Decent brew, very desirable.

Igazi "fekete bárány", kilóg a mindenhonnan. Mi pedig szeretjük ezt...

33 cl. bottle purchased online from Biernavigatie.nl & consumed @ home. Price-wise this was the lowest I had ever seen this beer before & not bad at all in general and not only compared to other Brewdog offerings. I must admit that with Brewdog cost price is a graver factor than with quite a few breweries since they frequently price their beers significantly higher even than higher quality comparable offerings. Despite how Brewdog likes to profile themselves their products are frequently less impressive than comparable offerings from other craft breweries. I am not criticizing them for being money oriented, financially they have done phenomenal things over the last years but as a customer I must note that quite a few other breweries offer higher quality offerings for equal or lesser amounts of money. The label features a less visually appealing colour pallet to my eyes than most of their offerings & their usual marketing text. Whilst I am certainly not a linguist, I do not feel like they are using the Zeitgeist term entirely correctly. This beer is apparently in the style of a Schwarzbier – a style with which I have only limited experience & Brewdog is probably not bound to offer the most traditional example of the style. Served refrigerator temperature in a Teku glass. This is dark alright, very dark furniture brown / black with some mocha bubbles for head. Aroma is very light picking up little, light burned malts, coffee grounds, caramel plus some chocolate but little in the way of smell honestly. Taste is that of light burned malts, easy coffee grounds, wild non-eatable berries sourness, chocolate, dark bread, light sugary sweetness, lightly watery finishing in some Brewdog hops, some UK hop touches, watery floral, grass & light white grapes. Bitter sourish finish, coffee grounds, floral & watery finish. Light minerals as well. Quite an interesting lager – a good one from the boys. Body feels a bit watery at first with touch to much carb. but as the glass progresses it settles & starts feeling more correctly.
