4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: MAY 2, 2009 Cask in the Rake. Alround rating: Huge thanks to the brewers for giving me the opertunity to try this one! Like 5 free samples to the ratebeer guyz and then followed by the rasberry smokehead was amazing. Aroma is peppery strawberrys, ethanol, small buttery punch, grassy yet oaky and has pulled some whiskey out the barrel. The taste is ful of mango, tangarine, strawberry, god its fruity, but still massivly whiskey ethanol and citrus grassy hops. Its not as complicated as it sounds, its very good, i really like it and want some more to rate it again. But perhaps too much ethanol is my only fault on this georgous unique one off! RERATE: Bottle at home with P. Amazing stuff, strawberry aroma, biscuity sweetish shortbread malt character, the whiskey seems to be very subtle, where the alc gone? Its just amazing stuff, cant wait to get some more!

4.4 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Going off notes , it pours a mostly reddish/orange color wit a good but light head. The aroma was crazy(good) and all over the place. It smelt of berries, vanilla, slight boozy smell, oak, and decent smell of hops. Flavor is equally crazy. Nice and tart but sweet, strawberries do shine thru but there is that great punch of whisky. Im not a huge whisky fan but it was well balanced for sure by the strawberries. I only wish i had more of this stuff

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
750ml Bottle thanks to James via Duff: Pours a crisp orange/gold with a nice lively white head. The nose is assaulted by peach and strawberry yogurt, vanilla adding a childlike nature to it. A very light booze is apparent and yet it seems light and puffy, something like sherbert. In the mouth the puffiness is certainly present in the light fizz. It is not so thick but has an easy oiliness to it. Peach, strawberry and apricot progress towards a oak-filled whisky throat burn. Vanilla is very apparent throughout. The tiny fizz complements the delicate, bittersweet nature which leaves little room for any dryness. Dangerously drinkable. Probably their best. Bravo.

4 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
I love the nose on this beer. Huge strawberry cream nose. Some subtle notes of citrus (perhaps from the hops, as this was once an IPA) some woody caramel notes probably from the scotch (Invergordon 65 I believe ). This is an AMAZING achievement in terms of balance. This is a near 13% beer that drinks like a 6% beer. Its absolutely insane. You drink a glass of this and you are ready for more and before you know it you can barely stand. Slightly hoppy up front before being dominated by strawberry cream and caramel. Woody with a slightly tart acidicness on the back end. This is a killer beer and one of the most unique beers I have ever had. Another stellar beer from James and his crew.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle @ Grand Tasting RBESG 2009. Strawberry in the aroma. Alcoholic flavor with strawberry, whisky notes and oak. The strawberry mixes surprisingly well with the whisky. The balance is really good.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Courtesy darkguardian. Pours a mostly clear golden color topped by a small white head that settles to a thin film. The aroma is nice and shows citrus fruit and hops, tart strawberries, vanilla, and wood, and whiskey. The flavor follows with the sweet malt and strawberries up front with some slight citrus hops adding bitterness. The whiskey adds a slight acidic note to go with the citrus. The vanilla from the wood imparts a nice sweetness and smooths things over. Incedibly well balanced between all the flavors and there is no way to tell the alcohol is 13%. Medium bodied with nice carbonation that leads to a sweet strawberry finish. This is a really unique beer and one I am glad I got to try.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
750ml corked and caged, thanks tytoanderso. Pours a clear bright slightly ruby tinted gold with small yet dense off white head. Deep rich nose...candied whiskey orange and strawberries, oak, cardboard hops, honey, leather. Much more fruity and bright then I was expecting from the nose. Slightly tart up front, picks up some strawberry and cherry fruit in the mid palate then finishes up with a bold boozy crackery pale malt finish that has hints of scotch and vanilla. Thanks Ty for sending this.
