3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 BigDUK (13) - - JUN 14, 2009
75cl bottle. great looking pour, golden, clear with nice head. aroma has vanilla hint (the whisky is coming through) with fleshy summery fruits, peach, plum, mango. Taste is sharper on the vanilla/whisky, the fruit comes later, with a thin quick alcohol hit as it goes down. An interesting beer, a nice one to try! And with the proceeds going to the RNLI i’m happy i had the chance!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 riversideAK (4381) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - SEP 1, 2011
Nose is of whiskey, a good deal of it as well as light strawberry, some musty dusty barrel notes, peaty, . Bright golden pour, thinnish foam ring. Strawberry notes on top of a good deal of whiskey, soft underlying beer notes. Mostly whiskey and strawberry. A little thinned out, well carbonated. Perhaps a stronger, thicker beer would be better served in the barrel, but interesting and nice nonetheless.

750ml corked and caged, thanks tytoanderso. Pours a clear bright slightly ruby tinted gold with small yet dense off white head. Deep rich nose...candied whiskey orange and strawberries, oak, cardboard hops, honey, leather. Much more fruity and bright then I was expecting from the nose. Slightly tart up front, picks up some strawberry and cherry fruit in the mid palate then finishes up with a bold boozy crackery pale malt finish that has hints of scotch and vanilla. Thanks Ty for sending this.

(750ml bottle thanks to AmEricanbrew) clear orange with just a few bubbles. Nose of candied oranges, strawberry, sweet, bourbon, and vanilla. Taste of alcohol, bourbon, strawberry, wood, and tangerines. Goes down quite smooth, easy to drink for the high ABV.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 fbm115 (133) - New Jersey, USA - AUG 7, 2011
bottle thanks to Jon. pours a yellowish red with a small head that drops quickly. smells of sweet strawberry syrup oak and alcohol. taste is just the same, strawberry syrup oak and alcohol. however there is a moderate bitterness covering up that sweetness. fruit flavor is nice and ipa components are there. mouthfeel is smooth syrupy a touch of alcohol to feel. It was fairly enjoyable.

30th May 2009 Aged in 1965 grain casks. Hazy gold amber beer. Dry and crisp palate. Highly unusual! Taste is dominated by fresh nectarines, peach and sublte splash of pineapple and even a little strawberry! All this fresh fruit is balanced by sourish whiskey and wood. A brave experiment that almost comes off 100%. If the sourness could have been dialled down a bit this would have been a remarkable beer.
