They always give the page a bit of a push at this place. Not wanting to brew the boring old standbys there is a bit of a go in doing something unique. Perhaps in a tip to Tripel Karmeliet they have done a rye beer. It is indeed complex even though it presents p[oorly at first, with a murky brown hue and flattinsh head. There is a melange of aromas but they all compete rather than complement, giving us a selection of fruity esters and some phenols mixed in with toffeish notes. The flavour is acceptable and is certainly a departure from the pale lagers that are rife in the region. Funny, if you say that again it could be life in the legion but that makes absolutely no sense. Anyway, a reasonable beer that could do with some tweaking before it reaches great heights.

A curious Singaporean dunkel brewed with rye malt, wheat and barley. Interesting concept but I wasn’t thrilled with the result. Cloudy chocolate colour with moderate head retention. Similar aroma to the Wheat Beer - Arrowroot biscuits with some Cherry Ripe chocolate notes and mocha coffee. Soft and mouthfilling, quite creamy - good. Very malty with minimal bitterness. Dominated by Ryvita biscuity malts, with some McCowans Highland Toffees and milk bottle chews. Sourish wheaty notes in the finish. Interesting. (Draught at brewpub)

Hazy dark amber color. Light aroma of roasted malt. Quite poor taste, bitter caramel, a hint of wheat or cereals.
