3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Lubiere (6988) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 19, 2011
A dark reddish brown stout with a thin brown head. In aroma, a light murkey chocolate, mineral notes, some light off notes. In mouth, a dry and powdery chocolate, light licorice action, grassy notes, not bad. On tap at brewpub, July 11, 2011.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Oakes (10184) - Gibsons, British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 28, 2010
Chestnut colour and clear. Toasty, chocolatey aroma is quite nutty. Nutty, sweet with good malt complexity. Funny - it’s kind of a lousy oatmeal stout with its light colour and lack of oaty, stouty goodness but it’s a pretty good brown ale. I’ll score it for its qualities as a beer rather than to style.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Beershine (4712) - The Sunshine State, Florida, USA - JUN 22, 2010
Draft @ brewpub. I could be mean and give this a 2 for appearance because it is clear dark brown and looks more like a dark lager than a stout. Has no creaminess either but does have a decent tan head and good hue in spite of it. Aroma is sweet, almost syrupy with a good chocolate character. Smooth, low carbonation. Not quite oily but getting there with clear oatmeal gloopiness. Still, an easy-going body. Has good oatmeal character. Low in the roast department. Goes down pretty well in spite of not being very stouty.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Borresteijn (2757) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - OCT 24, 2009
Sampler at Brewerkz. Dark brown colour, off white head. Aroma of coffee, roasted malts, light sour dark fruits. Flavour is light sweet, coffee, fruits, light bitter. Coffee lingers. Light bodied.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 nate2g (1548) - Marlborough, NEW ZEALAND - SEP 26, 2009
Draught at Brewerkz, Singapore. Dark brown with a small beige head. Light roasted malt and coffee on the nose and in flavour. Good carbonation. Smooth and mild bitterness in the finish. A pretty good stout.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20 ChrisThomson (522) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 25, 2009
Tasty beer, but not in the same category as their X IPA. Pours dark brown, with some light roast on the nose. A bit light in the body for me. Taste of roasty malts and molasses.
3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 alagnak (467) - Littleton, Colorado, USA - JUN 22, 2009
On draft @ the brewpub - Nose is very oatmeal/cerealy. Light roasted smell. Very highly carbonated for a stout, which played well with the generally sweet coffee and oatmeal flavor. Nice bitterness towards the end, finished rather watery as it warmed (which was fast in the singapore heat).
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 WISEGUY572 (1373) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 21, 2009
Reddish brown, clear, big brown head that dissipated quickly. Nose of sweet roasted malts. Taste of sweet roasted malts, burnt edges, sweet oat meal. Good creamy head and mouth feel. Frankly, I did not take adequate notes on this one but I remember it fondly.
1.5 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 Stoutjourner (18) - THAILAND - APR 23, 2009
Too fizzy for a stout. Dark, but the flavor complex or interesting. Disappointing overall. Also, it was served on tap with no head at all.

Just grab a Guinness or an ABC Extra Stout and taste them at the same time - you can immediately detect the undesirables and shortcomings of this stout.
