Draught at the brewpub
Light blond color. Light soapy aroma. Light mouthfeel, high bitterness. A malt touch, otherwise too close to commercial ones.

A hazy blonde pils with a thin white head. In aroma, light grassy malt with light solvent notes. In mouth, a smooth grainy and mineral malt, lightly, rather boring. On tap at brewpub, July 11, 2011.

Golden colour. Aroma is a little grainy. Moderate bitterness and slight citrus. Crisp palate but is lacks nuance and is a little bit grassy as the glass goes down.

Draft @ brewpub. Pale yellow with scant head. Not the most pretty pils in the world. Aroma is a bit on the vegetal side that is canceled out by nice leafy hop. Body is easy, and medium. not too thin. The hop character is bright enough to deserve the pils designator and I could probably session it.

Sampler at Brewerkz as Organic Pilsener, ABV 5%. Light hazy very light golden yellow colour, white head. Aroma of grain, malt. Flavour is flowery, malty, bitter bit grainy finish. Light to medium bodied. Just OK.

Draught at Brewerkz, Singapore. This was noted on the board as ’Organic Pils’. Hazy straw yellow with minimal white head. Light malt and lemon grass. Fizzy palate. Light bodied with low bitterness. I wasn’t a fan of this one.

A nice simple pils, also sometimes called Organic Pils. Rather tame by the current standards of American micro-brewers’ pils, and probably not as hopped as I would prefer, but without a doubt the best Asian pils I have enjoyed on this trip.

Enticing by appearance. Aromawise, average. Too bitter for its genre and, the fruit/citrus dimension is out of place. Luckily, the malt still stands out adequately (although more would be better). A different sort of pilsner. Saving grace - decent carbonation. Refreshing enough without danger of being labeled flat.

Hmmm, not what I’d consider a traditional pilsener, aroma is mainly citrus lemon, flavour is also lemon that finishes with some bitterness that is not very Saaz. Methinks they have either missed the mark on this one, nice refreshing beer, just not really too pilsener like.

On draught at the brewery (labeled 5%) with pale straw color. Very light body with mellow hops that barely dominate the maltiness. Clean finish.

Shame about the tautological name, but then this Singaporean brewpub caters to a market where beer means Tiger means beer, so perhaps they can be forgiven. This is another summery quencher that suits the climate as much as the long glasses of iced lime juice that are so popular here. It’s a hazy unfiltered gold with great lace and head retention. The aroma is soft and Saazy. Good malt character and light and fruity. Soft mouthfeel, thanks to the restrained carbonation. In the mouth, it’s lovely and fresh and limey with a surprisingly bitter finish. Subdued malts and lots of sherbety fruit acids. It’s all about the Saaz. (Draught at brewpub)
