Had this beer on tap at the brewpub in a standard pint glass. The beer was a mostly-clear, dark ruby red/deep red-amber color with light sediment and a good-sized, foamy, off-white head that had fairly short retention and average cling, but very good lacing. Its aroma predominantly featured a strong rye bread scent, largely hiding lighter notes of barley and grainy hops along with a very light caramel undertone with perhaps subtle touches of citrus. Its taste initially had a very light sweet caramel malt component, but that quickly gave way to a heavy bitter rye flavor with perhaps slight undertones of citrus and yeast. The beer had a fairly full and somewhat wet mouthfeel, but gave way to a thinner finish, with a low-to-average level of carbonation and modest fizz. Not a bad beer, but for a blend of hefeweizen and rye ale, it was surprising how thoroughly the rye dominated.

12 oz tap pour - happy hour, enjoyed during Manny Machado’s 14th inning walk-off single against Tampa Bay, putting the O’s in 1st place by half a game (if only for a few hours). Pours caramel orange-red with small, tight tan head. BIG beautiful nose of wonderful floral and fruit aromas, figs, dates, plums, bananas and yeasty goodness. Medium bodied with a great tart dry finish, touch of bitterness. Lots of flavor going on, with dried fruits and nuts, hops and oranges. Apparently a rye hefeweizen hybrid. Really nice on a late summer evening when the weather has begun to turn.
