COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is a dark version of the weizen beer style. The grist contains a large portion of wheat, which lends a distinctive note to the malt body and aroma. This style is traditionally un-filtered and can have significant haze and cloudiness. Our Dunkle Weizen is brewed with a traditional Bavarian weizen yeast, which gives it a very pronounced clove and spice character, as well as a fruity aroma.

Tap. Pours a slightly hazy amber. Light nose, just a bit of over-ripe bananas and light yeastiness. The flavor leads with a little caramel and banana, then transitions toward a lightly yeasty sweet finish. Lighter bodied with a soft gentle mouthfeel. Fizzy carbonation. Decent stuff.

Nice doppel that didn't have the breast or banana taste. Just sweet with a good mouthfeel and finish on the palate.

Wife ordered this draft at the brewpub, served in a pint glass. Cloudy orangy-copper color with off-white head. Aroma notes of bread, Belgian yeast (banana, clove, bubblegum), citrus and light spices. Taste adds more malt sweetness, caramel and yeasty fruitiness. Light body, moderate-low carbonation, sticky with light bitter sweet finish. Nice enough local dunkel.

On tap at Adega Wine Cellars & Cafe in Silver Spring, MD. ABV listed as 4.8%. Cloudy, dark copper burnt-orange with a small off-white head and excellent lacing. Rather pale for a dunkle, this beer is only slightly darker than many hefeweizens. Aroma of lemon, citrus wheat and mild banana. Taste of banana, lemon, wheat , yeast and citrus. Medium/light body and medium carbonation. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On draft at the brewpub. Pours a deep golden amber with a frothy off white head. Aroma is nice and soft with notes of banana, spice and a touch of sweet caramel. Flavor is again very classic, sweet fruitiness, banana, subtle spices, clove, a nice sweet malty note. FInishes clean with a touch of wheat. Medium body and a soft carbonation. I liked it, very refreshing and clean.
