Frauditor (127), Hagerstown, Maryland, USA Mar 31, 2007 I really dig the kolsch at brewer’s alley. not too many pubs will wander into the kolsch zone where i live but these girls have the guts to do it and do it right. I’d like to try filling my fish tank with this stuff because i just know my tetras would freaking dig it as much as i do.
jjpm74 (2925), Connecticut, USA Aug 29, 2008 Courtesy of beachbum25. Pours gold with a thin white head. Smells of pilsner malt, some fruit. Tastes of sweet malt, some spice, touches of bitterness. Enjoyable. jcwattsrugger (3942), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Aug 25, 2008 on tap-pours a thin white head and yellow color. Aroma is sweet grain-honey, yeast-with some home brewer character? Taste is sweet grain-honey, yeast-with some home brewer character?, balanced with continental (Hallertau) spicy/herbal hops. Nate (2238), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 22, 2008 From draught sample at the brewpub. Has a mild sweet pilsner malt aroma, with light but fresh hoppy notes. Overall, a mild nose but pleasant. Pale golden-yellow clear, with thin white lacing head. Light watery body with medium carbonation. Light carbonic gaseousness. Starts fairly dry, with a snappy crisp bite. Fresh but thin, with mild hoppy bitterness in the finish over a very light malt sweetness. Fairly clean after. Light and refreshing. Bit of sour malt tang at the very last. willblake (1932), Long Branch, New Jersey, USA Jul 15, 2008 20080715 12oz bottle from State Line. Deep golden color with smallish white head that does not last. Aroma is very malty, reminds of pretzels, a bit more hefty than I expected. Mouthfeel is medium-light with prickly eff, nice quick finish. Sweet, bready, pretzel-y flavors with some savory/herbal hoppiness emerging toward the back of the palate and with temp. Good enough and nicely quenching. Dickinsonbeer (2514), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Jul 15, 2008 Pours a nice light to medium gold with nice carbonation and a fluffy white head which fades slightly. Aroma is doughy malts, but also a slight cara-pils malt sweetness which I dont particularly like in a kiolsch- light herbal hops as well. Flavor is crisp and clean with a bit of sweetness, light ale fruitiness, bready, light toasted bread, and a clean hop bitterness. Very refreshing, just a touch too sweet, and not enough pils malt breadiness.
