Cask: Dark orange to red in color. Murky with little head. Very hoppy aroma and flavor. Hints of malt, especially on the palate. Very thick and full bodied with a musky finish. Very good stuff.

On tap 4 oz. sample at Maryland Craft Beer Festival 2012. This is the 2011 version of New Moon.
Pours very hazy and gradually clears, albeit never entirely. Nice, fine, white head and very good lacing.
Aroma is spicy with floral hops rounded out by a solid dose of sweet caramel and bready malts.
Taste is sweet and spicy with a solid sweet caramel and bready malt base and ample floral hops by the finish. Very nicely balanced.
A tad below medium body and carbonation.

Served cask at the brewpub... very nice beer. Strong aroma, solid hops. 7.2% so served in the fluted glass vs. a pint... marginal decision to do this, but that’s okay. Good temp... not cold, but room temp. Very cloudy, foamy head that lasts, but doesn’t hold in aroma. Very nice Ale, strong but balanced. A Keeper.

None of this brewers beers seem to have much aroma. This was no different. Just a malty smell. Pours a nice amber with a small head. The flavor is nice with a sweet start and a nice hop bitterness to it.

A caramel/red hue describes the coloring of this cask ale; with very little head. Nose is mostly of light malt and fruity hops. Nice balance of hops and malts with a very soft mouthfeel. Begins with a light sweetness and ending with twinge of alcohol at the end. This cask ale was served only slightly cool and was the perfect first beer after a long drive.

2/14 tasting at RFD: VERY FLORAL. However it’s not really well balanaced and tends to be over hopped for the style.

I enjoyed this beer at the restaurant on cask, the first day it was available. Served in a trappist glass, the beer had a nice red-amber color, was cloudy, and had a large white to off-white head with good retention. Their was a big fruity hop aroma, with a hint of citrus, and noticeable caramel malt too. The taste was very briefly sweet, quickly becoming dominantly bitter. It had a wet and fizzy mouthfeel, with slight oilyness and a dry alcohol finish. The beer was served warmer than usual, perhaps only a little below room temperature. The brewery did a good job on this beer, it was full of character.

On Cask.
Murky caramel-colored brew. Small, off-white head; creamy and quickly diminishing. Excellent lacing.
Sweet and fruity aroma with notes of caramel, alcohol and blackberries.
Fairly well-balanced flavor, although the hops definitely win out!
Blackberries and caramel up front. Moderately bitter and alcoholic on the backside.
Full-bodied with an oily mouthfeel and cotton-soft carbonation. Medium-length, bitter and mildly earthy finish. MaltHeads and HopHeads rejoice! Excellent effort from Brewers Alley. Thanks Edgar!
