Draught at the brewpub. Pours mahogany with thin off-white head. The aroma is very weak with some caramel and a little bit of nuttiness. The flavor is caramel, peanut shells, and some earthiness. Simple-minded and unimpressive.
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Block (864) - West Lafayette, Indiana, USA - SEP 6, 2011
Pretty good. Nice malt sweetness and hops balance. Just like most brown ales I’ve had from this area, this beer is really light on the nut and caramel flavors. This style is done a little more lightly than some brown ales from the midwest and west coast.

Tasting this one from a growler one day after purchased at Brewer’s Alley. The color is a dark reddish amber. The aroma is rich with nutty malt. The taste is slightly bitter to offset the malty aroma. The finish is crisp and mouthwatering. Decent brown ale in my book. Extremely drinkable.
