UPDATED: DEC 26, 2008 CHRISTMAS 08 GREAT last year. Good this year. It just didnt seem like it had that same flavor pop last as last year. I did manage to make short work of the growler so maybe I just remember it being better last year. CHRISTMAS 07 Good last year. GREAT this year. Worthy of a growler. Sippin one NOW! You smell the ginger before you taste the beer. 7% doesn’t hurt thing a bit either.

On tap at The Brickskeller on December 9, 2010. Pours a nice ruby-copper color with a bit of haze and a good white head that lingers for a bit before settling to a thin cap and has a bit of very light lacing. The nose brings quite a bit of ginger and cinnamon, making it a tad bit over-spiced. Beyond that, there is a bit of crystal malt, but not really much else to work off of. The flavor is quite spicy, but somehow works much better than it did in the nose. There are some fairly-strong notes of cinnamon and ginger, though beyond that there are a few notes of pine that take things in a slightly-different direction with a more earthy character. The beer has a medium body and finishes a bit dry. A pretty decent brew that got better as it warmed. Serving type: on-tap Reviewed on: 12-10-2010

Had a pint on tap at the brewpub in December of 2007. The aroma was earthy and spicy with cinnamon and gingerbread-like scents. Flavor was sweet and spicy, with a bittering effect for balance. The beer had a dark complexion with a foamy off-white head, colors of dark brown and ruby red. Wetter beer with ample carbonation and a nice, spicy kick. A rare winter selection, with a good performance; perfect for winter.

On tap at the brewpub on 1/19/07: Pours a transparent dark copper mahogany with a wispy-lacing light tan head. Sweet cinnamon, ginger and dark caramely malty aroma. Body starts sweet and malty with a nice, earthy spice balance with some cinnamon sugar flavor. A very nice spiced winter ale.

Draft... Clear, copper ale with a mid-sized, frothy, off-white head. Terrific retention. Gingerbread and sugar cookie aroma with lots of spice. The flavor is much the same with good balance between sweet gingerbread and bitter hops. Medium-bodied and lightly creamy with medium carbonation. Finishes spicy, bittersweet and numbing.
