3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Appearance: cloudy, buttery gold with a thick white head and decent lacing. Aroma: honey, funk, and citrus. Taste: sweet and funky notes of orange zest, with some herbal must. Finish: tart and a little dry. Notes: On draft at Birch and Barley. According to the beer menu, made with some smoked malts, but there was nary a hint of smoke to be detected in taste or aroma. Essentially an average American saison.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Another in this summer’s trend (for me, at least) of many herb-inflected beers. Notes of chewing gum, pot pourri, smoke, salami, and fruit. Yellow color. Decent layers, interesting. (on tap, Church Key, Washington DC)
