PilsnerPeter (1324), Flushing, New York, USA May 12, 2008 Bottle at Paul’s Hoboken Gathering: Hazy honey-colored pour with a strong white head. Sweet nose with mainly honey, banana and some diacetyl character. Smooth carbonation with a sweet flavor. Lots of honeyish notes and mild over ripened fruits. The finish has a very light spice hint. A bit too sweet overall, but not bad.
Skyview (2657), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Jul 24, 2008 Received 750ml bottle via Secret Santa. Pours a hazy orange amber brew with a thick, spritzy and rocky head that has some excellent retention and excellent lacing. Aroma of honey, multi-grain malt, some cloves, banana esters, orange zest, candi sugar and a touch of grassy hops. Taste is medium bodied, well-carbonated with flavors of coriander, multi-grain malt, cloves, candi sugar and a touch of tart cherries. Finish is slightly dry with a lingering clove and banana aftertaste. Flavor overall hides any alcohol character is this Belgian Ale. jayg (997), Florida, USA Jul 16, 2008 Courtesy Beerlando. Slightly cloudy light amber color, nice tight white head. Slight peppery and herbal tones back some sweetness and Belgian yeast aromas. Pretty straightforward sweet grainy Belgian taste. Pretty stock, but a nice offering. eaglefan538 (2021), Wilmington, Delaware, USA Jul 10, 2008 Pour with huge carbonation, hard to control actually. Full orange-amber color, lacing streaks decent all the way down. Lots of bread, yeast, grass in aroma, some candy fruity aromas too. Flavor followed the aroma, candy apples with lots of balancing grass. Mouthfeel was airy bloated, overly carbonated. Not bad, not great. Tune down the carbonation and let’s see what this beer base really has to offer? Decent, nothing great, though. cmillward (143), Orlando, Florida, USA Jul 5, 2008 Bottle, thanks to Beerlando for sharing! Pours amber, big white head, leaves some lacing. Yeasty aroma from the start, sweetness, ginger, some hay and caramel malts. On the tongue the yeast leads as well, hint of candi sugar-like cherries, sweetness, a touch of bitter hops towards the finish. Med mouthfeel, med carbonation. goldtwins (3672), Nesconset, New York, USA Jun 28, 2008 Poured a hazy gold color with a large off-white head. Very long lasting. Yesty and caramel aroma with notes of spice. The flavor is of caramel malt but it is also fruity. Light to medium bodied.
