3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 jrallen34 (3445) - Chicago, USA - MAR 30, 2011
750ml bottle poured into my Darkness glass...Not quite a gusher but a big pop with a slow crawl. Huge carbonation as I’m only able to pour about three ounces of beer and I get about nine fingers of head. The head is nice, pretty and fluffy tope; sick lacing. The beer is a nice honey gold. A little less head would have been nice, but not sure how this could look any better...The aroma is a bit much for me as its dominated by pepper, of the black variety, not sure I or anyone could tell the difference of a green peppercorn, but it sounds cooler, right? Trying desperately to pull anything else out but the pepper and I can’t! Not the note that should be dominating your beer. I actually like the pepper of it, just too much, needs to be 1/10th of that level...The taste tones down the pepper on the front and gives off some nice floral and honey notes that I quite enjoy. However 2/3’s of the way through the pepper makes a come back, especially on the swallow. Still too much for me, but an interesting twist. As I drink it more and it warms slightly better. Again not bad just too much pepper.
Top five pepper beer I’ve had, but needs more restraint before its entirely drinkable.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 JDBaker11058 (677) - Maryland, USA - MAR 24, 2012
Appearance: deep honeyed gold with a thick white head quickly shrinking to minimal lace. Aroma: pears, peaches, honey, grain, and pepper. Taste: muddled pears in light syrup, yeast, freshly cracked pepper, honey, lemon, tangerine, with a hint of club crackers. Finish: slick, a bit a sweet, with lingering notes of yeast, pears, and pepper. Notes: This was a very thick beer. The palate was extremely slick, almost fatty. It felt like I’d just had a really greasy sausage. The flavors were nice, and the alcohol was decently hidden, but the palate was just too rich.

bought by Dave .. . Pours a hazy sunset gold .. tons of foam, sticky lacing .. . light pepper, honey, lemon zest, light yeast, and pear skin .. . medium aggressive mouth .. . good tripel! .. . . I think there should be something in science called the "reindeer effect." I don’t know what it would be, but I think it’d be good to hear someone say, "Gentlemen, what we have here is a terrifying example of the reindeer effect.

750 ml, had the regular tripel last night from these guys, a little thick but here it holds up to the peppercorns. The peppercorns add great aroma and a cool spicey element to the beer. Tasty
