Thanks to blutt59 for sharing this bottle. Orange-amber pour with a white head. The aroma is full of brown sugar, Belgian candy sugar and toffee. The flavor is toffee, yeast, pepper, alcohol and oranges. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

2.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Cask at Max’s. Pours a nice hazy deep copper with a lasting fluffy head. Aroma is intense with lots of sulfur which turned me off right away- phenolic and clove with an ok malty backbone. Sulfur fades a bit in the flavor but still noticeable, pale stale crackery malt,s light phenolics, earbal dusty and earthy leather as it warms with a tacky dry cobwebby finish.

UPDATED: OCT 28, 2010 750ml Bottle: Aroma of Belgian yeast, light biscuit, and hay. Poured amber in color with a medium to large-sized, creamy, loose, though later dense, off-white head that diminished but lasted throughout. Cloudy. Very sparkling. Full of tiny and small particles throughout. Good to very good lacing. Flavor is lightly sweet. Tastes of Belgian yeast, water, and some grain. Medium body. Tingly texture. Lively carbonation. Belgian yeast and water finish is lightly dry.

On tap at Brewer’s Art. Served in a Brewer’s Art chalice. Dry and toast heavy with some earthy character in the background. Medium body. A bit leafy. Bready for the most part, especially as it warms.

Draft at Max’s 72 Hour Belgian Beer Fest. This was on cask, actually. Cloudy brown. Nose is fruity and sweet. Taste is VERY fruity with soft yeast, soft caramel, and light flowery hops. Slick feel to the body that typically comes with cask beers. Soft to no carbonation. Lighter feel overall. Lots more big fruit during the finish. More yeast notes and flowers too. Very tasty!

Gold pour with white head and lace. Cinnamon, clove on the nose. Cinnamon, clove and plastic taste. Foamy and thin. Not my favorite beer.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Dark amber coloured body with ruby tints and a thin off-white head. Aroma of hops, caramel, malt, caster sugar and cherries. Medium to Full-bodied; Spicey hoppiness with a strong malt backbone and some sugars. Aftertaste clean and pleasant throughout. Overall, a decent beer-nice from a local brewer, but not the best ever! I sampled this pint on draught at RFD in Washington, D.C. on 20-June-2004 with JonR888710 & Haddon90.

750ml bottle from State Line. Slightly hazy amber pour with tons of tiny sedimental flecks and a big gushing head. Nose is initially fairly similar to early batches of their Resurrection, i.e. a lively, fruity, yeasty brew. While Res has become more properly dubbel-ish, some of its qualities carry over (house yeast strain?) into this brew. Mouthfeel is quite nice, prickly and playful. Tastes quite yeasty, no surprise there, with fewer pert fruits than the nose would suggest. Biscuity malts and a hint of tea in the finish. Decent enough BdeG but not knocking me out.

I was able to sample this on cask at Max’s in Baltimore during Max’s Belgian fest. Pours a pale yellow, amberish orange. Aroma is malty with some candy. Initial flavor has the zing of citrus hops, with flavors of herbs and some perfume/flowers. Chalky in the mouth. Not bad.
