very high concentration of esters in this one. The "Belgian" character is very overpowering. If you like Belgian esters seek this one out but it was a bit much for me.

freekyp (1296) - Thomasville, North Carolina, USA - DEC 31, 2011
A dark Belgian strong, this pours crystal clear copper, no head. Brown sugar, whiskey and vanilla are the main aroma components. 8% alcohol is well masked and lends a thick mouthfeel. Sweet at first but mediated by a long hoppy bitter finish.

probstblueribbon (1967) - Nepean, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 6, 2011
750 ml bottle shared by Lubiere (merci!) at Mike’s, served cool in a tulip glass. 20NO11. MASSIVE GUSH.

App.: Cloudy orange-amber with a frail orange-light tan head. Aroma: Buttery caramel/toffee, some dark dried fruit, orange, citrus, brown sugar. Palate: Medium body, fairly sparse effervescence. Flav.: Nice rich malts, dark dried fruits, orange peel, toffee/brown sugar, alcohol, nice; sweet with some bitterness and a pleasant orange, malt, alcoholic finish.

The bottle is apparently a bit old. I still found it reasonably quacktastic.

A lightly hazed amber ale with a thin off white head. In aroma, caramel malt with porto, oxidized malt notes, coriander and curacao. In mouth, a smooth sweet candy sugar with maderized notes, a bit too old. Bottle from the brewery, 2 years old, shared with Probstk, GRM, Mike and Shaun, Nov. 20 2011.

hoosiers1994 (667) - Maryland, USA - SEP 10, 2011
Bottle poured into a tulip glass is a clear amber color with a thick and foamy cream colored head. There are aromas of grain, sweet Belgian yeasts with bread notes. Taste is caramel, hay, banana, and bread. Palate is medium body with way too much carbonation. My beer kept overflowing, what a waste. Overall, a good easy drinking beer.
