Our answer to the Belgian «devil» beers (i.e. Lucifer, Duvel, etc.). Both rich and dry, this beer is all too easy to consume in large quantities. Hopped with Styrian Goldings.

2009 Bottle - Pours a beautiful hazy golden with a large off white head...aroma is very inviting, malty and spicy, dough and honey, very lightly herbal...flavour shows a ton of that herbal quality, almost tea-like, with lemon and honey, grain and a sweet malt finish...light despite a ton of flavour...this was awesome

Can: The aroma consists of moderate candi sugar, light-moderatebanana, light apple, Belgian yeast, and a touch of spice. It pours a transparent golden-orange with a three finger white head that leaves behind a lot of very fine webbing on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts with light-moderate candi sugar and light citrus. There is some light-moderate banana, bubblegum, and Belgian yeast in the middle. The finish has light apple, candied orange, orange peel, spice, and very faint alcohol. It’s medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

Can thanks to trade with mikericm! Pours a clear gold with fluffy white head that dissipates to leave moderate lace. Aroma is Belgian yeast and light spicy esters up front with a hint of pale malt on the back end. Taste is pretty much all the esters and yeast, spicy clove, banana, pepper, hint of grass. Nice and easy for the abv, good stuff.

12 oz. can given to me while on vacation. Poured into a solo cup. Pours a hazy dark gold color with a one finger white cap. Aroma is citrus based, mostly orange, with a hint of Belgian yeast. Semi sweet flavor with light candied sugar, more orange and a hint of spice. Medium bodied. Well carbonated.

Can. Pours a clear pale straw yellow body under a one finger thin frothy white head that left minimal lacing. The nose is quite similar to Duvel, on the sweeter side, heavy bready malt, some Belgian yeast fruitiness, minimal alcohol, and a touch of floral hoppiness. The flavor is pretty similar as well, sweet and fruity with a fairly noticeable alcohol kick towards the back end. Rather full bodied and heavy with soft fizzy carbonation and a slight stickiness on the back end, tempered by the alcoholic warmth. Pretty decent attempt at a clone, about as good as any American effort that I’ve had.

Pint on tap at Forno in Baltimore. Mostly clear orange amber with a lasting film of cream. Aroma is funky white grape and a touch of spicy honey. Tastes of earthy grape must, a touch of honey and citrus zest. Light-medium body has medium carbonation and finishes dry.

Canned as ’Ozzy’, guess I have to get rid of it now that the name change is official, no? Nose is light and lightly sweet pale malt and citrus; sticking the nose in deeper, some mineral character with light vanilla and really nice sweet candy; some wheat. Pours cloudy yellow-golden with a rocky bright white head that laces and even legs a bit. Taste is strong malt up the middle with significant thick wheat and a little graininess; too much booze showing and it’s the hot kind, but otherwise "rich and dry" is a good descriptor. Dusty with a very good yeast contribution; there’s hay with straw and a few cobwebs, but the citrus and malt are the real winners. Fullish body, sort of a witbier on steroids as much as a good Duvel approximant.
