4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Found some notes from a festival I was at several years go. This beer is definitely one of the best dubbels brewed anywhere. Resurrection poured a deep brown color with a subtle tan head. The flavors were full, complex and extremely delicious. I tasted plenty of earthy and sweet malty flavors, along with a hint of spicy and dry hops.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Can at home. Pour is clear amber with a big tan head and great lacing. Dark fruity, honeycomb, sweet caramel, somewhat husky, bready, light nail polish, and pear notes in the aroma. Taste is husky, bready, somewhat sweet , light raisins, acetone, some fruit skins, and cookie malt. Medium body with high carbonation. Not good.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Rich, very hazy amber coloured body with a copper glow and a nice, three centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of malt, grain, caramel, light citrus hops, some raisins and a touch of apples - nice and relatively sweet smelling without any perceived yeast or pungency. Medium-bodied; Assertive hop flavour of citrus and light pine with a touch of honey right behind and a relatively strong malt flavour with grain and rye coming through. Aftertaste doesn’t show much body at all, no yeast and only a dry hop character with a touch of grain. Overall, a very interesting beer for the style - not like a typical dubbel at all, but not a bad beer - just different - more hops, less body, no yeast and a grain flavour make this decidedly american, so does the can! I sampled this twelve ounce can (I like having traditionally belgian styles in cans) purchased from Whole Foods in Washington (Foggy Bottom, I St), DC on 04-April-2014 for US$2,49 sampled at home in Washington on 09-September-2014.

Poured from can into a chalice glass
Appearance – Pours a beautiful chestnut colored brew with a decent ruby red hue mixed within. Upon pouring there is a one finger light tan colored head that has a fantastic level of retention. Over time the head slowly fades leaving a nice level of lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell- The aroma is light overall. Some light toasted malts as well as some darker fruits are the heaviest of the detectable aromas. The darker aromas are mainly of a cherry and raisin smell. These aromas are all mixed with a slightly yeasty and lightly spiced aroma of coriander and clove as well as a bit of a boozy wine like smell.
Taste- The taste begins on the drier side with a lightly roasted malt and bready flavor. Some lighter dark fruit flavors of cherry and plum are present upfront. As the flavors advance a caramel flavor comes and goes from the tongue never really having the chance to take the brew out of its dry tasting state. Some earthy and grassy hop flavors as well as a somewhat more potent alcohol flavor come to the taste more toward the middle to the end, breaking some of the smooth dryness that was present upfront. Other lighter flavor so of a yeasty and spicy flavor join the taste at its end, with the combination of all the flavors leaving a dry, crisp, and boozy flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel-The body of the beer is crisp and lighter for a 7 % dubbel with a carbonation level that is average to a tad above average. The slightly thinner body and slightly higher carbonation are great for complementing this crisp, dry and boozy tasting brew all while still allowing the lighter fruit flavors to shine through.
Overall- A pretty nice dry and warming dubbel, which all the while still maintains a nice fruit flavor profile. Although it is a bit on the boozy and biting side at the end of the taste, it is still rather enjoyable to drink. Worth a try if you have the opportunity.

2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Bottle, caged and corked. Muddy and heavily silted brown color with a pillowtop head. The aroma is almost sour, mashy and mushy. The beer is overly doughy IMHO, with the requisite amounts of sugary caramel being mired in a heavy palate. (#5585, 7/26/2014)
