I didn't know how this ws classified until I got home to look at the site. This poured a reddish color with a tan head and some lacing. When I first sniffed it I asked dberger624, "Is this a spiced ale?" While cold there was a sweet aroma of spice, clove, bubblegum and banana. This turned into barnyard funk, bread and sour cherry, when warmed. The taste started out sweet and malty, cherry was always present in the flavor. As it warmed it turned into a sour and slightly tart cherry flavor. In my mind it went from a spice/herb/vegetable to a flemish sour ale. But a mild sour at that, it was very enjoyable. The best Brewers Art brew i've had to date.

Tap at Brewers Art Holiday Beer Tasting 09. Pours a deep dark woody brown with a nice lasting head. Aroma is spicy, ginger, earthy, phenolic, almost an anise kick as well- deep dark toasted malts, light nutty hints and slight chocolate. Flavor is moderate sweet, anise, herbs, spice, gingerbread, and mint green grassy with some nutty slightly burnt malts, caramel and toffee, biscuit as well- airy dry bubbly finish- Nice.

I’d been holding onto the 2013 bottle for way too long, so it was time to drink it, even though it is in the height of Summer. Ah well. This one poured a medium brown color, touch of ruby notes, and a gigantic light tan head. I mean huge, even though it was served almost immediately out of the fridge. This one foamed like crazy. Once it settled (relatively quickly), it was ready to drink. Sweet molasses, dark brown sugar and notes of light spices. Flavor was nice easy to drink sweet molasses, toffee, with some light spices.

Clear, dark woody brown. ginger is the predominant flavor over a sweetish caramel ale. Acidic, fruit. Good bittering. I’m such a sucker for gingerbeer. Finishes out with a side-of-the-tongue, spicy, hop bitterness. Medium body.

Slutfest 2013: Weak malt aroma. Cloudy brown, thick tan head, fine floaties. Fig and cookie flavor. Light body. Tasty, but not terribly well rounded.

Tap at brewery. Pours tawny brown with creamy beige head. Aroma is toasted and caramel malts, earthy notes, plums, raisins, and faint ash. Flavor is dry malt base, light floral hop bitterness, dark fruit esters, and light caramel sweetness; dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.

Slutfest! Light chocolate aroma? Flavor is light chocolate? Send out a search party, there seems to be a beer missing. Maybe some odd spicing. Light body. Shockingly little going on here.

A very dark amber, almost brown with a big fizzy head that quickly fades. The aroma is fruity sweet with a bit of spices. The flavor is similar with the spices showing up on the swallow. A bit to fizzy for me but quite refreshing.

750 corked and caged bottle. Shared with multiple others at brew club. Pours a thin fizzy head over a hazy reddish brown (SRM 20) body....nose is dried cherry, fig, plum, minimal hops.....taste is heavy cherry, fig, hints of cocoa, hints of molasses, sweet throughout, finishing with light hop tones, minimal bitterness.....mouth feel light of medium, alcohol hidden, carbonation makes it very fizzy. This is on the sweet end of the Belgian Strong Ale style, also very highly carbonated, and on the simple end of the spectrum. Perhaps a change in the malt bill and a yeast change would improve it. 19 nov 2013, tap at brewers art. Dark brown. Nose is dark toast, orange, and spices. Thin body and moderately fizzy. Finer comes out big time and lots of bitter orange peel in the finish. Reminds me of 90% chocolate and orange rind. Fun for a winter ale. Don't know how much I could drink though. It is quite bold.
