COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dark Brown Winter Warmer with Curaçao Orange Peel and Ginger. Inspired by Seinfeld (we first made this beer in 1997 and it is a testament to the folly of giving your beer a pop culture name.) We currently have two vintages available in bottles - we had retained some of the 2012 (whose label is undated) to enable side-by-sides with the 2013 (which is vintage dated on the label). It’s a remarkable contrast - the beer is great fresh but at a year the flavors have melded wonderfully. To me, the beer evokes winter. It really warms the bones without being too over-the-top strong or spiced.

Hazy orange appearance with an average size head that left good lacing on the glass. Yeasty aroma developed as it reapproached room temerature. An herbal, pepper spice taste that was balanced by a fruity, green apple flavor. Slightly bitter, dry finish.

Like a really nice double bock except with the spicy flavor of a belgian. fairly nice color but not deep, some lacing

750mL corked & caged bottle. Date on the side: 10/11/14. Pours a murky light mahogany color with a thick and creamy khaki head. Cherries, plums, figs, caramel, a spicy tang, and a rich bready maltiness feature in the aroma. Medium-bodied and smooth on the way down. The taste starts with a little caramel, toffee, and cola. Dark cherries, plums, and figs follow. Some tangy citrus rinds are present at the end. A spiciness and some warming alcohol are present from start to finish.

Appearance dark, opaque brown with one finger of thick, creamy light tan head. Aroma: spices up front (cinnamon, clove, black pepper, allspice), over herbal hops and some brown bread and fruitcake. Taste: figs, plums, molasses, herb, light pine, graham cracker, and holiday spice melange. Finish: lingering fruit and spice, light sweetness. Notes: Perfectly fine. Basically a dark Belgian with what I’ve come to view as the typical ’holiday spice bucket’, so common in Christmas beers, tossed in. Beerdvent 2013 selection.

Had no idea this was classified as a Belgian Strong ale when i drank it. Poured a reddish brown, cloudy, tan head, aroma of potent winter spices, such as cinnamon and nutmeg as well as clove, flavors were spicy, much like those in a spiced winter beer, with a decent malt backbone, as it warmed it did change slightly with a more prevalent yeasty and fruity flavor being noticed. Odd, yet quite intriguing

Dried fruit, citrus, floral, perfume, and cardamom aromas. Hazy red-brown with a lasting, beige head. Dry, floral, fruity, and spicy. Medium body, prickly carbonation, and a refreshingly clean finish.

This ale looked good and started fine, but it went down hill rapidly. Too spicy, weak and wattery. Maybe I got a bad keg. Still a decent drink, but not what I have come to expect from this brewer.

Draft at the Grey Lodge in Philly. Nice Belgian. Had a slight spice flavor in the start. The alcohol was hidden pretty well.

Pours a dark brow basically black with a tan white lacing. The flavor is heavily spiced with some chocolate, coffee and yeast funk in the finish
