COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dark Brown Winter Warmer with Curaçao Orange Peel and Ginger. Inspired by Seinfeld (we first made this beer in 1997 and it is a testament to the folly of giving your beer a pop culture name.) We currently have two vintages available in bottles - we had retained some of the 2012 (whose label is undated) to enable side-by-sides with the 2013 (which is vintage dated on the label). It’s a remarkable contrast - the beer is great fresh but at a year the flavors have melded wonderfully. To me, the beer evokes winter. It really warms the bones without being too over-the-top strong or spiced.

750mL corked & caged bottle. Date on the side: 10/11/14. Pours a murky light mahogany color with a thick and creamy khaki head. Cherries, plums, figs, caramel, a spicy tang, and a rich bready maltiness feature in the aroma. Medium-bodied and smooth on the way down. The taste starts with a little caramel, toffee, and cola. Dark cherries, plums, and figs follow. Some tangy citrus rinds are present at the end. A spiciness and some warming alcohol are present from start to finish.

I’d been holding onto the 2013 bottle for way too long, so it was time to drink it, even though it is in the height of Summer. Ah well. This one poured a medium brown color, touch of ruby notes, and a gigantic light tan head. I mean huge, even though it was served almost immediately out of the fridge. This one foamed like crazy. Once it settled (relatively quickly), it was ready to drink. Sweet molasses, dark brown sugar and notes of light spices. Flavor was nice easy to drink sweet molasses, toffee, with some light spices.

A clear dark brown ale with a thin white head. A nice nutty malt with orange peels, a bit funky and herbal, quite nice. In mouth, a nice light licorice wafting through the malt, a bit of chocolate, medium bodied. Very nice indeed. On tap at brewpub, Dec. 28 2008.

Pours dark chestnut with small tan head. Nose shows ginger, orange, anise and cupcakes. Thick mouthfeel with a spritzy finish that scrapes the tongue. Well blended flavors.

Bottle that I took to Campground Brewdown 2. Pours a clear brown with a thin to medium sized tan head. Fuzzy musk on the nose, sweet with some caramel notes and toffee. Toffee, caramel, toast. Light spice. More caramel and toffee with a bit of faint bitterness into the finish.

750 corked and caged bottle. Shared with multiple others at brew club. Pours a thin fizzy head over a hazy reddish brown (SRM 20) body....nose is dried cherry, fig, plum, minimal hops.....taste is heavy cherry, fig, hints of cocoa, hints of molasses, sweet throughout, finishing with light hop tones, minimal bitterness.....mouth feel light of medium, alcohol hidden, carbonation makes it very fizzy. This is on the sweet end of the Belgian Strong Ale style, also very highly carbonated, and on the simple end of the spectrum. Perhaps a change in the malt bill and a yeast change would improve it. BJCP 7/2/14/3/6
