3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at Scion in Silver Spring, MD.
Clear, sparkling, rusty brown with a small khaki head and good lacing.
Aroma of toffee, chocolate, lightly roasted malt, spice and yeast.
Taste of chocolate, toffee, mild roasted malt, berries and Belgian yeast.
Medium/full body and medium/low carbonization with a strange, but nice, mouthfeel, which feels thinner yet more carbonated than it is. Anyway, the mouthfeel is well-suited to this malty brew.
Overall, this is a very malty brew with a quite interesting Belgian yeast character. Indeed, I find it more enjoyable than many Belgian dubbels.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tap at Brewers Art. Amber body. Creamy off-white head. I get some roasty chocolate malt in the aroma. Medium bodied, very malty and enjoyable. Kind of like a deep amber lager met some belgian yeast. Complex, yet refined and logical. Really fresh and well executed. Unique.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft at the source. Poured a very dark brown color, some light ruby notes on the edges of the glass, with a off-white head sitting on top, plenty of carbonation in this one. Aroma was chocolate, with some light coffee notes, yeasty spice notes. Some roasted malts, spice. Yeast. Pretty tasty.
