On cask at Max’s, Baltimore. Good timing and a nice treat to enjoy this wicked collab. Deep, thick, dark brown pour with a delicate sandstone head. Nose is dark chocolate with Belgian yeasts, a rich tart core that’s invitingly complemented by the understated smoke. Sweet in places, anise and smoke elsewhere, with a ripe rich dark center, a Tootsie roll for grownups.

Churchkey, DC cask ($6): Pours a black color with a small head. Aroma is of smoked malts and Belgian yeast. I was kind of concerned about this combination, but it really worked out well. The yeast provided a nice spicy feel and it might be the same yeast Stillwater likes to use. As for the smoke, it works pretty well with the yeast and creates a interesting combination and one that I think more beers in the future will take to another level. Good mouthfeel. Would be interested in trying the 9% version of this as well.
