COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
(Brewed at Holgate Brewhouse)
Brewed in Australia by Brewers’ Fine Ale Pty Ltd, Cobden St, Kew, 3101
Brewers’ time honoured fine ale brewing practices infuse authentic floor malted barley with specialty crystal maltz (sic) to create an exceptionally smooth all malt beer crowned with a long lasting snow white head.
The generous addition of Brewers’ own blend of aromatic hops immediately prior to bottling finish this full bodied ale with their crisp flavour & spice aroma.

Amber with a small, weak head. Sweet maltose kind of aroma and a very sweet beginning to the flavour. Then there is a funky citric sourness with a light bitterness in the finish. It’s ok but not easily drinkable with that sourness.

Clear dark orange body with short head. Honey and crystal on the nose. Taste is a little bit cardboard and metallic, then some caramel notes.Ok.

When I popped the top on this baby, I thought someone had just pulled a pudding out of the oven. There’s a lot of honey and some toffee on the nose. The aroma’s a little overwhelming, but the taste is much fresher than expected, with a savoury, sour finish. If not for the aroma, you’d call it a summery drop. Pretty light and easy drinking.

Pours rich amber with a lasting head. Nose shows a lot of sweet malt, heaps of caramel, honey, golden syrup, toffee and butterscotch. Flavours are not as malty, but still show some caramel and toffee before a soft grainy character moves in. Some faint spicy hops are noticeable. Body feels a little watery.

A solid session ale if you can ignore the pretentious name and the usual marketing twaddle on the label. (THE "Original Pure Malt Ale"? Really?) Pours a hazy bronze with a nice pillowy head. Has the sort of doughy aroma you’d expect from a pure malt ale, especially the original one. Also some faint peachy notes and a less welcome metallic ring. Quite a full, creamy body for this style but it works for me, despite being more filling than refreshing. Fairly sweet in flavour, with minimal bitterness and a slightly sour, quenching finish. Toffeeish crystal malt notes in the mid-palate. (330ml bottle)

Bottle. Amber with a beige coat. Aroma of pears, butterscotch, earth and flowers. Sweetish and fairly plain caramel and biscuity malt with fruit and floral bitterness. A little too sweet and overcarbonated for mine, but a solid and likable drop.

Pours terribly. Rusty in colour, no head nor carbonation. Smells a smidge funky and crisp. The palate is where the fun is to be had. Crisp, zingy citrus and pear dances around the rich barley. Reasonable length. Not a bad drop.

330ml bottle. Murky brown copper colour with a flat beige head. Looks fairly solid in the glass and has a malty caramel aroma that is inviting. Flavour is very flat and a birtdisappointing given the strong full aroma.

Bottle 330ml. Well-balanced beer. Aroma is very malty, with a whisky touch, and also floral. Taste is sweet, with balancing bitterness, and average duration. Oily palate, with thin-to-medium body. Amber colour, with a frothy head that doesn’t last.

Draught at Lambsgo Bar, Melbourne. Golden with a white head that slowly diminished. Aroma and flavour of malt, honey, spice and grassy hops. Solid malt backbone that supports the hops nicely. Good bitterness. An unoffensive beer and quite tasty.
