3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Having lived in Germany I have to assure my friends that german beer is great and worthwhile, and that a good larger is actually very nice.
Unfortunatly beer doesn’t travel well even within Germany. Both with the brew houses and straight of tap local breweries. Much of it is impossible to find a nice bottled version of it
More recently some breweries have been making strange heavly hopped Hell hybrids. These are desapointeing compared to the balanced sweetness good german hells have.
So what am I trying to say then? Well I think this is the real deal. Certanly the best example of a southern german hell I have found in the uk.
Its a has a sliky smooth carbination that is not at all overwhealming, It has a sharp sweatness followed by the not overpowering malt note. This last bit is important as many of the major Bavarian macro breweries have a bad skuned malt taste at the end, here its just right,
So if you want to expirence a well balanced and authentic example of south german hell beers here is one. Its not a fantastic or stunning example, if I still lived in Germany this would be an very decent but not great beer, but in this country its the best that I have found.

3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Aroma is very strong for a lager and hard to pin down. Kind of grassy, floral herby, difficult one. Appearance, is cloudy yellow and somewhat watery looking. Taste is light but very oily, leaves some sort of vanilla/banana essence behind. This is styled as a Munich Helles but tastes nothing like a typical helles. Weird beer, not bad but not one I’ll be rushing to try again. Their Bernstein and Dark lager is much better.

UPDATED: MAR 11, 2016 Really very good, probably the best lager I tried these years. Grey yellow and murky with white top. Interesting and unique quince taste with nice bread flavors, hops, barley, tart and superb robust aroma - those qualities are forgotten among lager beers long time ago. Very good body and carbonation. Special and kind of nasty. I love it.

500ml bottle (SIP, Tallinn)
Pleasant hazy gold, small tight head. Pleasant light grainy aroma, some soft grassy hopping. Taste also pleasantly grainy, but alas just a little papery. Palate quite full and smooth from being unfiltered, but with crisp carbonation. I can get past the paperiness quite easily, this is a very pleasant refreshing unfiltered lager. I’d tone down the carbonation half a notch though.

Bottle. Archer Road Beer Stop, Sheffield. Hazy, lemon squash colour. Thick, dense, lasting, white head. Nose has crisp, lemony malts. Grassy hop. Light, fruity hop. Some mineral, too. Taste is crisp, light dry, with a floral sweetness. Clean palate. Finishes short, crisp dry. Very decent lager.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours golden with a thick, soapy foam head. Aroma is biscuit, lemongrass and corn. Quite a foamy mouthfeel. Taste is a dulled lemon, some medicinal alcohol wipes, doughy with a light bitter finish. Actually it’s rather pleasant.
