COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hoppy Belgian Ale. This red ale is all about hops. It is an American-Belgian fusion of beer styles taking imported Belgian caramel malts and bitch slapping it with a heavy handed dose of American hops. Expect hints of mango, pineapple, and citrus to hit your nose with an assertive hop presence.

Hazy amber beer with a tidy cream coloured head. Light palate, crisp and semi dry. Mild orange hops, tangerine too. Slightly tangy - sour. Minerally sharp finish. Fresh, interesting!

Kinda weird. Not liking the aftertaste that this produces. Starts out well and finishes astringent with some grassy/hay flavors.

16oz can, thanks to umich03jm. Very big khaki foamy head. Head could be described as annoyingly big. Hazy darker red color. Great, thick lace. Soft and crisp, but strong carbonation. Dry texture. Lightly earthy hop. Bigger caramel and oddly funky malt. Some kind of dark sugary belgian candy taste in there. Mostly sweet, light odd bitter finish. Hint of chocolate. Very toasty, kind of dusty malt. Texture and appearance and some of the taste feels authentically Belgian-style, but that doesn’t make this work for me. Was difficult to finish - should have shared this one.

A nicely hopped red ale. It is not too sweet and malty, nice specialty malts, hop presence is citrusy.

Can: The aroma consists of grapefruit, pine, citrus, Belgian yeast, spice, and a touch of apple. It pours a bright transparent amber with a two finger off-white head with decent retention. There is some nice webbing left on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts with a quick dose of caramel. There is some lightly sour citrus/lemon in the middle. The finish has grapefruit, light spice (mostly pepper), and some herbal notes. It’s medium bodied with moderate-lively carbonation. Overall, the spice and herbal notes in the finish aren’t working for me.

This 16 oz can was sent to me by Strykzone. Thanks Dave. Pored a amber-red with a big tan head and good lacking rings. Nose of belgian yeast with some chocolate and flora and citrus hops Medium body. Smooth mouthfeel; Flavor shows some fruit and chocolate finish and the tasty hops carry over into the finish. A very tasty beer.

Pint can. Poured clear, fiery orange with a huge yellowy-beige head. The aroma picked up bright citrus and pine resin joined by heavy yeasty notes (black pepper, dark fruits, and cloves led).. nice, but a bit too Belgo-y for my liking. The flavor found bitter orange peel and lots of the same yeasty notes throughout.. orange-laden caramel supported.. finished with a lot of fruit and clovey yeast and orange over bready malt. Light-medium bodied with high carbonation on the palate.. this very much grew on me.

16oz can picked up at the brewpub in Grand Rapids, MI. Pours a clear, deeper ruby-amber colored body with a finger-width, creamy, tan head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. The aroma is really great. Lots of peppery, resiny citruses with a toasty caramel and toffee malt backing that also has a good amount of spicy, Belgian yeast. Big mango and pineapple to the hops with some herbal notes, pines, and florals. The spiciness of the yeast, light toast from the malts, and big mango fruitiness really reminds me of a spicy, mango based Indian food. Flavor is similar, but more dry and hop influenced. Toasty caramels and toffees up front before a spicy Belgian yeast and herbal, piney hopping comes in. Some mango, pineapple, light florals, and more spruce-like spices before this finishes dry, moderately bitter, slightly dank, and spicy before leaving a lengthy aftertaste. Medium-light body and a slightly higher than medium carbonation. Overall, the combination of toast, mango, Belgian yeast, spices, and dry hop finish is really reminding me of an Indian dish, although more so on the aroma because the mango pops more than the fairly dry flavor. This is a balanced, unique, and interesting take on an IPA. Good beer.
