COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hoppy Belgian Ale. This red ale is all about hops. It is an American-Belgian fusion of beer styles taking imported Belgian caramel malts and bitch slapping it with a heavy handed dose of American hops. Expect hints of mango, pineapple, and citrus to hit your nose with an assertive hop presence.

Can, Ann Arbor, MI via Plum Market. Hazy pale amber. Resin and caramel aroma. Balanced, slightly soapy texture. More caramel and citrus resin. Long mild resin finish.

Canned 1/27/15, drunk 12/4/15.
Clear amber-auburn body is topped by a small, light beige head that recedes to a ring.
Candy corn, raspberry/cherry/apple esters and a hint of buttery caramel. Very light tropical notes lingering; obviously the bulk of the hop aromatics have long since passed. Otherwise, no alcohol and pretty simplistic. Very little yeast character in Vivant’s beers.
Crystal malts provide iced tea while there is some yeast interplay creating a raspberry and cherry note. Caramel and butter toffee, rather dry, with a hard texture, moderate carbonation (fizzy, loose) and a touch of pineapple and sweet lime lingering.
Not taking points off for lack of hoppiness, which I certainly wouldn’t expect it to have at 10 months old (the hop character here is actually the best part of the beer). Rather, it has a very hard, nearly husky texture with no malt depth. The "Belgian character" is pretty lacking (though what’s there is admittedly not offensive). Carbonation is loose, fizzy, artificial feeling.

Thanks to Charlie Nelson for this one. Pours reddish caramel with aroma of pine, caramel, bread, and some tropical fruit. Tropical fruit and caramel sweetness with bread and pine. Very nice beer.

This beer has a lot of flavor. Potent hops. It’s good, clean. Some lighter fruit flavors which compliment a little hop pine. A sweet body and finish.

Malt based aroma. Clear red pour with a thin white head. Taste is very malt forward, no real hop presence. Palate is medium bodied. Overall, a decent beer. Would probably get again.

Can thanks to my mom! Pours a clear red with a slight amber hue and a tan head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of grain and bread supported pine and some bitter citrus. Flavor has sweet grains, light pine and citrus up front but finish has a nice sweet tropical fruit note.

Pours an amber color with a thin white head. Aroma is Belgian yeast up front, with some intoxicating citrus and tropical fruit hops, with pineapple standing out. Flavor is sweet citrus and tropical fruits. Bitterness is practically non-existent. Great beer.

Canned. Pours very pretty red, almost mahogany/ruby color, white/tan head. Aroma is sweet caramel, with absolutely tons of mango and pineapple, heavier on the pineapple. Absolutely intoxicating aroma. Flavor is a bit more malt, caramel, but the hops are prevalent. Citrus, pine, pineapple, light citrus and mango. Really good beer.
