Ale brewed with Michigan Honey & Hops
(6.5% abv)

This is what Belgian beer is all about: Using locally available ingredients, each sip brings forth nuances that make this beer worth truly savoring.

Clover honey added during the boil contributes color and complexity but adds no sweetness to the beer as the sugars are broken down during fermentation. Look for whispers of apricot and nectarine on the palate, mixed with the floral aroma of the hops grown in northern Michigan.

UPDATED: FEB 22, 2013 Can. Pours a cloudy orange color with a very small amount of head. Aroma is grainy malt, honey, and some light citrus and red fruit. Taste is very smooth. Reminds me a Belgian Triple. Light fruity notes mixed with some flavorful malt. The honey holds it together it keeps it smooth. The Belgian yeast flavor does not come through until the finish and is very subtle. High carbonation and medium body. Slightly sticky mouthfeel. I enjoyed this beer. Not nearly as complex as other Belgian Strongs but itís smooth and tasty. Re-rate 2/22/13 - Had this twice more and donít like it as much. Over-carbonated a bit and the flavors are dry and a bit stale. Itís not bad though. Nice fruitiness, lots of honey. Decent.

Pint can thanks to DrSilverworm. Vinous, honey and fruity. Standout for the style and enjoyable.

16oz can, thanks to Jim C. for sharing. Clear orange color. Thin off-white head, some dots of lace. Medium plus body. Smooth, kind of crisp, lighter carbonation, mildly soft, light dry finish. Caramel malt and honey, biscuity malt, as well as some toastiness and belgian sort of toffee fruity type flavors. Honey biscuit type flavor dominates overall, pretty nice. Moderate sweet taste, light bitter. Solid flavorful belgian ale, tasty one to sip on.

UPDATED: FEB 17, 2015 At Rockwell. it was called a Biere de Garde on the menu at the restaurant and I think it more fits that. A little sweet, and didnít really have the belgiany yeast. Still decent. Serving: tap

Can from my friend Dan. Thanks! Pours a muddy yellowish orange with a thick head. Aroma is honey, grass, hay, cereal, and some dankness. The taste is rather odd. I get the honey, but thereís a muddy, earthy taste that I cant place. Maybe the hops? Some fruity notes like apricots and mangos. The finish has that earthy dankness that I didnít care for. Medium body. Little carb. Not my favorite beer and really didnít seem like a Belgian.

kinda dull for a belgian ale. would have pegged it for a saison or farmhouse.

Sampled on tap at the brewery. Mild honey and malt sweetness, no hops in the nose. Orange-amber, brilliant clear with thin head. Medium body with medium carbonation. Start sweet with honey, pale malt. Light biscuit. Mild hop bitterness. Finishes with light bitterness and some honey undertones. Light sweet after.

UPDATED: JAN 28, 2015 Can: Yellow, slightly amber body with decent clarity & a mild chill haze. Foamy, white head that recedes to a ring quickly. Aroma is honey, dirt, earth, & a slight grassy hop tone. Flavor has a slight skunky quality with some honey, earthy & dirt-laden hops, mild must, slight citrus finish. Almost some DMS notes, with a big backbone of bread & yeast. More honey in the aftertaste. Nothing inherently terrible about it, but nowhere near worth what youíll pay for it.
