COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Farm Hand: French Style Farmhouse Ale 5.5% abv 16 oz Becher glass There was a time in old world France when nearly every family farm had a brewery. A necessary part of farm life was to provide a ration of beer to sustain and nourish the laborers and beer was safer to drink than the water of the time. Farmhand is our interpretation of what these rustic beers must have been like. It is slightly cloudy from being made with raw un-malted grains a nd a simple single infusion mash procedure.

Served between cellar and refrigerated temperatures in a wide-mouth wine glass. Beer poured out a hazy straw yellow with a three inch white head that dissipated quickly. A fine head remains throughout sipping. Smells immediately of sweet yeast and bread followed by an oaky, floral, and dry white grape (almost a Chardonnay). Leaves little astringence with a nice, crisp mouthfeel. I immediately taste light, sweet cereals, yeast, and mild banana notes, followed by that big white wine flavor. Pretty straightforward here. Finishes with a lingering bread/yeast combo. Simple and to the point. A nice refresher with a wine-like elegance. Let it warm up in the glass a little to pull out the yeast flavors.

Can from Michael. Leftover from RAT XIV. Pours a straw yellow with big white head. Loads of foam when I opened the can. Gusher. Aroma is hay, lemon rind, musty. Taste is slightly sweet, some lingering sourness near the finish. Slight lemon. Very dry.

Draft at Green Well. Pours a cloudy pale gold with very thin head that quickly diminishes. Aroma of hay mostly. High carbonation, slightly tart. Not bad but certainly not in the same ballpark as the Tired Hands beer that had a similar name and they sued them over.

Really enjoy this beer. A bit funky, definitely in keeping with the farmhouse style. Great French saison.

Can at Culmination Fest: Poured yellow straw color with white head. Aroma is funky barn yard and soured grains. Taste is bland and not impressive.

Golden straw color with a white head. Aroma and taste are both a solid mix of lemon, grass, light hops and malts, and Belgian yeast. Very crisp and light. Very nice beer.

Rated on 02-07-2012. This canned beer has a medium sized very fizzy white head with a short retention, transparent pale yellow body, lively, fizzy, fast rising carbonation, and virtually no lacing. The aroma is bready malt, yeast, sweet, lightly fruity, lightly spicy, and a suggestion of pepper. The flavor is lightly sweet, yeast, wheat, bready malt, some citrus, lightly fruity, and has a short dry finish. The mouthfeel is lively and this beer is medium bodied. Overall, this is an easy drinking beer.

LOVED this beer. Has a slightly sour taste that is appealing to me. It has a slight citrus flavor to it with a very citrus like aroma. It is a bit hazy in appearance when poured. I really enjoy the packaging and all that is included on the Brewery Vivant cans.
