COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Monks have been brewing beer in Belgium for centuries. Their beers have been some of the most sought after in the world. Solitude is made in the tradition of the famous brewing monks of the Abbeys of Belgium. This beer is deep mahogany in color, malt forward with hints of caramel, pear & raisin.

Reviewed from notes. Rcvd in trade. This was poured into a chalice. The appearance was centered around a decent hazy golden yellow to somewhat orange/light brown color. There was a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute and left some light lacing sticking nicely around the sides of the glass. The smell had some nice light Belgian spices up front and let in a slight sour lemon. The taste took the lemon and the Belgian spices to town and let in a decent citrus flavoring. It left a really dry finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a pretty good sessionability about it. The carbonation was sharp but nothing overbearing. Overall, I say this was a pretty good Belgian pale ale worthy of having again.

draft at the pub. pours clear amber. nose is moderate to low level of belgian spice and ester characteristics with some raisiny malt notes. Flavor is similar. finish is moderately dry. good but would have liked a little stronger yeast character.

Rated on 01-10-2012. This canned beer pours a small beige mostly diminishing head, copper transparent body, fast rising, fizzy carbonation, and spotty amounts of lacing. The aroma is caramel malt, sweet and raisins. The flavor is upfront caramel malt, sweet, some raisins, and has a dry finish. The mouthfeel is soft carbonation and this beer is medium bodied. This beer is very quaffable and even though there is not a lot going on with the flavor, it is still quite tasty. This is a beer I would drink again.

Drank from a 16oz can poured into a tulip glass. Pours a deep mahogany with ruby red accents. Very clear with a small head the did not persist. Malty, raisin, plum aroma. Beer was adequately carbonated, bordering on flat. Good mixture of malty sweetness and some bitterness. Could taste some caramel and darker malty notes. Overall a very nice beer.

16oz can. Poured into an ovila glass. Hazy brown / red color. Thin khaki head, leaves good ropes of lace. Good dark fruit, raisin aromas. Some caramel malt. Very lightly spicy. Medium to bigger body, pretty full. Smooth, crisp, lighter carbonation. Sort of slick. Moderate bitter, lighter sweet, lightly spicy. Pretty tasty, smooth, flavorful, enjoyable belgian ale. Great one to enjoy with my sandwich.

16 oz can from Sicilianos served in a Belgian snifter. Pours clear but very dark, reddish brown with a good head. Aroma: darks fruits with hints of being sour and over-ripe. Taste: rich and complex, with a bit more yeastiness than I prefer, but with a substantial amount of raisin, dates, figs and generic dark fruits. Overall bitter and sweet are nearly in balance. Feel: medium body; carbonation is lively, perhaps too lively.
